Job description

General Purpose

The primary function of a mortgage loan processor is to work with loan officers and underwriters to facilitate the mortgage application process. They review loan applications, verify financial information, and ensure correct document submission. Remote work is an option, our requirement is that the successful candidate lives in Colorado in order to be more available for physical branch visitations. 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Verifies that loans originated can be done pursuant to available programs and investor guidelines.
  • Reviews and analyzes all loan documentation received such as, appraisals, loan applications, credit reports, income, assets, and title insurance.
  • Checks ratios and verifies accuracy of AUS findings and program applicability.
  • Inputs loan file documentation accurately into necessary software programs.
  • Reviews and Submits applications and conditions to the underwriter for approval.
  • Orders third party documentation and reports.
  • Provides status updates to Mortgage Loan Officers
  • Identifies potential issues and communicates with Mortgage Loan Officer.
  • Monitors overall loan processing cycle time to ensure loan closes on time.
  • Obtains and verifies clearance of all underwriting conditions and prepares the file for submission to closing.
  • Regular and Reliable attendance is required as an essential function of this position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

  • Detail oriented with exceptional multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a desire for professional growth.
  • Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
  • Is a self-starter, works well under pressure, and is accountable for meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
  • Understanding and application of banking compliance regulations.

Education or Formal Training:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) equivalent required.
  • Additional college level courses in real estate or business are preferred.
  • Possession of or access to reliable transportation.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Colorado Drivers’ License, is required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of five (5) years’ working in a Mortgage Department in a financial institution, for a title or real estate company is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years mortgage loan processing and knowledge of Federal National Mortgage Association, Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, Federal Housing Administration and Veterans Affairs Loan (FNMA/FHLMC/FHA and VA) guidelines is preferred.
  • Experience using Encompass LOS is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis.

Working Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Occasional travel to conferences, meetings and branch locations may be required.  May be eligible for Telecommuting.

These are representative of those which must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required; it would require the ability to reach for and lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.  Employee may have to lift up to 25 pounds.
