About the Role

Latitude IT Solutions is seeking a Senior Architect to own the technical vision and architectural integrity of a large-scale VA health IT platform. You are the highest technical authority on the contract. You design the multi-region failover strategy, own the Architecture Package, chair the Change Control Board, and set the engineering standards that every other Key Personnel role operates within.

What You'll Do
  • Own the Architecture Package deliverable: a comprehensive, VA-approved document capturing platform architecture, integration patterns, and multi-region design
  • Lead multi-region architecture across AWS GovCloud primary and failover regions; define workload tiers and own the Multi-Region Enablement Plan
  • Chair the formal Change Control Board: review all architectural changes, assess technical risk, and approve or reject platform modifications
  • Own the data architecture across all platform data services including cross-region replication strategy, consistency models, and replication latency management
  • Define technical direction for Istio, EKS cluster architecture, Kubernetes namespace governance, and AWS GovCloud landing zone configuration
  • Present architecture briefings to VA health leadership; serve as technical spokesperson in all architecture-level discussions with VA stakeholders
  • Mentor the DevSecOps Director and Maintenance Technical Director on platform engineering decisions
What You Bring
  • 10+ years of federal cloud architecture experience with demonstrated ownership of large-scale production architecture on AWS GovCloud
  • Deep expertise in EKS at enterprise scale, AWS managed services (RDS, MSK, ElastiCache, DocumentDB, S3, Kinesis), and cloud-native platform design
  • Expert-level Istio, HashiCorp Vault & Consul, and multi-VPC networking in AWS GovCloud
  • Multi-region active/passive failover design with stringent RPO/RTO SLA accountability
  • Familiarity with VistA RPC, Oracle Health integration, and VA Enterprise integration patterns (VA Profile, MPI, VADIR, eCMS)
  • Strong written communication; ability to author Architecture Packages and present to non-technical VA leadership
  • Active Dept of Veteran Affairs PIV credentials
Preferred
  • AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification
  • AWS Advanced Networking Specialty
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
  • HashiCorp certifications
  • Prior HAPS / VAEC / VA Health DevSecOps platform experience
  • Kafka/MSK scheduling event bus and VistA integration experience
