Job description

Overview
This is a remote role open for multiple markets across the United States.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Systems Engineer III- OpenShift/Kubernetes platform Administrator to build, administer, and optimize enterprise OpenShift container platforms. This role is responsible for building, automate, maintaining highly available OpenShift clusters, automating infrastructure operations, ensuring platform security, and supporting application teams deploying cloud-native workloads.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, Linux administration, automation, and troubleshooting. The individual will work closely with DevOps, Cloud, Security, and Application Development teams to deliver reliable and scalable container platform services.
Responsibilities
OpenShift Platform Administration
  • Install, configure, administer, and support Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) clusters.
  • Perform cluster lifecycle management, including upgrades, patching, maintenance, and capacity planning.
  • Monitor cluster health, performance, and resource utilization.
  • Manage OpenShift components including:
  • Worker Nodes, Control Plane Nodes, Operators, Ingress Controllers, Routes, Projects/Namespaces, Persistent Storage
  • Troubleshoot and resolve platform-related incidents and service disruptions.

Kubernetes Administration
  • Support Kubernetes workloads running on OpenShift clusters.
  • Configure and manage deployments, services, ingress, networking, and storage.
  • Monitor containerized applications and platform services.
  • Analyze and resolve pod, node, networking, and storage issues.
  • Implement workload optimization and resource management best practices.

Linux Systems Engineering
  • Administer and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers.
  • Perform server provisioning, patching, hardening, and performance tuning.
  • Monitor operating system health and security compliance.
  • Support virtualization and infrastructure environments hosting OpenShift platforms.

Automation & DevOps
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using:
  • Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Git
  • Automate routine administrative and operational tasks.
  • Support CI/CD platform integrations and deployment automation.
  • Assist development teams with application onboarding and deployment activities.

Security & Compliance
  • Implement and maintain security controls for OpenShift clusters.
  • Configure Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and security policies.
  • Manage secrets and certificate lifecycle processes.
  • Support vulnerability remediation and compliance initiatives.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure adherence to enterprise standards.

Monitoring & Operational Support
  • Monitor platform availability and performance using enterprise monitoring tools.
  • Configure alerts, dashboards, and reporting metrics.
  • Participate in on-call support and incident response activities.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain operational runbooks and technical documentation.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in cloud engineering OR High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in cloud engineering
  • 5+ years of systems engineering or infrastructure administration experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on OpenShift and Kubernetes administration experience.
  • Experience supporting production container platforms in enterprise environments.
  • Strong Linux system administration background.

The base pay for this position is generally between $140,000 and $170,000.
