Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Product Software Engineer (Mid/Senior) - Kubermatic Dev Platform (f,m,d) based in Netherlands.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a modern developer platform built on Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies. Working within a collaborative product engineering team, you will take ownership of features from discovery through delivery while contributing to architectural decisions that influence the platform's evolution. The role combines hands-on software engineering with close collaboration with users to solve real-world infrastructure challenges. You'll develop scalable services, contribute to innovative platform capabilities, and help drive the transition toward a SaaS offering. This environment encourages experimentation, continuous learning, open-source contributions, and technical excellence, making it an ideal opportunity for engineers who enjoy building impactful products.

Accountabilities
  • Design, develop, and enhance platform features with a strong focus on delivering customer value and maintaining high engineering standards.
  • Own the complete feature lifecycle, from product discovery and technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement.
  • Build scalable backend services and Kubernetes Operators using Go to support cloud-native platform capabilities.
  • Collaborate directly with customers and internal stakeholders to understand user needs and translate feedback into product improvements.
  • Break down complex initiatives into incremental deliverables while defining effective rollout and delivery strategies.
  • Contribute to platform architecture and technical decision-making as the product evolves toward a SaaS model.
  • Support integrations with AI-powered development tools and contribute to upstream open-source projects when appropriate.
  • Participate in the team's on-call rotation to help ensure platform reliability and operational excellence.
Requirements
  • At least 3 years of professional experience developing software with Go.
  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience building Kubernetes controllers and Operators.
  • Strong knowledge of distributed systems, container technologies, Kubernetes, cloud-native architectures, and public cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud.
  • Experience building internal developer platforms or infrastructure-as-code solutions using Kubernetes Operators is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with feature flagging, progressive delivery, and modern software deployment practices is an advantage.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with product managers and cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, combined with a pragmatic problem-solving approach.
  • Customer-focused mindset with curiosity, empathy, and a passion for creating tools that improve developer productivity.
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation package.
  • B2B contract option with paid annual leave and local public holidays.
  • Fully remote-first working environment with the flexibility to work from anywhere in Europe (within CET 4 hours).
  • Relaxed, collaborative, and engineering-focused team culture.
  • Regular hackathons, company offsites, and team events.
  • High-quality development equipment and tools of your choice.
  • Dedicated support for professional development, certifications, conferences, and continuous learning.
  • Opportunities and sponsorship to speak at industry conferences and technical events.
  • Active participation in the cloud-native and open-source community through meetups and industry conferences.
