As a key member of our team, you will engage with families and develop tailored therapeutic approaches aimed at improving the well-being of youth and their caregivers.

About the Organization

At Open Sky Healing Counseling, we pride ourselves on delivering comprehensive mental health support services to children and families throughout Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and beyond. Our mission is to empower primary caregivers of children and teens with developmental and intellectual disabilities, equipping them with the tools and resources necessary to foster positive growth and well-being. We value diversity and inclusion, and as such, we actively seek bilingual therapists to serve a broader clientele, particularly in Spanish and Portuguese.

This position is fully remote, allowing for flexible working hours while focusing on essential therapeutic services. The role connects you with families in their own environments, primarily conducting therapy sessions through telehealth platforms or, when necessary, in-community settings. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring a seamless continuum of care for children and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual in-home therapy sessions or group therapy programs in our outpatient community health clinic, adapting your approach according to each child's unique needs.
  • Implement targeted strategies to address behavioral challenges, including anger management techniques, coping mechanisms, and social skills training.
  • Assist families in improving decision-making skills to better manage behavioral issues at home, promoting healthier family dynamics.
  • Engage in ongoing collaboration with the Child Family Treatment Team and other relevant professionals to ensure comprehensive support for youth and families.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of treatment plans, progress notes, and intake assessments, adhering to prescribed time frames.
  • Participate in monthly team meetings, providing feedback and recommendations based on therapy outcomes and shared practices.
Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on children ages 3-20 who face various developmental and intellectual disabilities. This includes, but is not limited to, children exhibiting special needs, behavioral challenges, and family dynamics requiring intervention. You will play an essential role in enhancing their quality of life and helping families navigate complex challenges, thereby directly contributing to improved patient outcomes.

Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree in Counseling, Family Therapy, Social Work, or a closely related field is required.
  • An active and unrestricted Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) license in Florida is mandatory.
  • Availability to provide a minimum of 5-10 hours each week during after-school hours, preferably between 4 pm and 7 pm; weekend availability is a plus.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience delivering positive behavior support, specifically within a therapeutic context.
  • Prior work experience with children in the age range of 3-20, particularly those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable registered vehicle.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check, which includes fingerprinting, to ensure the safety of our client population.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary ranging from USD 60,000 to 80,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to financial compensation, Open Sky Healing Counseling provides:

  • A dynamic work environment that fosters professional development.
  • Ongoing job training to help you grow in your role and stay updated with the latest therapeutic practices.
  • Comprehensive group health coverage to ensure your well-being.
  • An annual paid time off policy to help maintain work-life balance.
  • Short and long-term disability coverage for peace of mind.
  • A 401K plan to assist in your retirement planning.
Career Growth Opportunities

As a member of Open Sky Healing Counseling, you will have the opportunity to advance your career through specialized training and mentorship programs. We encourage our employees to pursue continuing education and professional licenses, supporting your journey towards assuming leadership roles within the organization.
