Overview

The Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC) is a national nonprofit founded in 1994 by Harvard Business School professor Michael Porter. ICIC drives inclusive economic prosperity in under-resourced communities through innovative research and programs to create jobs, income, and wealth for local residents. Informed by our research, ICIC has developed and supported highly effective initiatives for underserved businesses to meet entrepreneurs' most pressing needs. Program Overview

Inner City Capital Connections (ICCC) is a program offered by ICIC, dedicated to providing the leaders of small businesses in under-resourced communities with education and coaching to help them cultivate long-term sustainable growth. This free, 40-hour program is designed for busy executives of all expertise levels, fostering their ability to advance their businesses and make a positive impact in the communities they serve.

Position Summary

ICCC is launching their annual Impact Survey to assess the impact of the ICCC program on their business. The Telephone Surveyor will be responsible for calling alumni of ICIC programs to complete the survey either over the phone or at their earliest convenience.

This is a temporary remote position, lasting approximately 12 weeks, reporting to the ICCC Data Lead.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Engage with program alumni via phone, text, and email outreach to encourage alumni to complete survey
  • Encourage alumni to complete survey over the phone with you
  • Familiarize yourself with ICIC programs to best answer questions from alumni
  • Provide daily reporting on calls made and outcomes
  • Track materials and call data within Google Workspace
  • Follow-up appropriately with businesses as needed
  • Assisting team members with additional tasks as needed including conducting outreach to prospective applicants and current program participants.


Qualifications

Education:An Associate's degree is desired, but a High School Diploma and related work experience may be substituted.

Work Experience:Must have previous experience in cold calling or telephone outreach to large call lists. Experience with sales, customer service, telemarketing, or in call centers is preferred.

Communication Skills:Strong written and oral communication skills preferred.

Technology Requirements: Candidates must have access to their own computer capable of accessing Google Workspace, as well as a device (computer or smartphone) capable of making calls through ICIC's phone platform, Dialpad. A stable, reliable internet connection is required. Candidates must also have access to a quiet space with minimal background noise, suitable for conducting phone calls with program alumni. Prior experience with Google Workspace is preferred.
