Principal Product Manager, System Insights for DX

Atlassian

Magna, UT • On-site, Remote

Full-time

Posted 15 days ago

Job description

Overview
Working at Atlassian
Atlassians can choose where they work - whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
About DX
DX is the developer intelligence platform. We help engineering leaders understand how work gets done, improve developer experience, and make better decisions about productivity and AI. DX combines self-reported insights from developers with data from the systems where software work happens, then turns those signals into insights teams can act on.
How Product works at DX
PMs at DX act as the compass and context engine for their product area. You will own product direction, prioritized problems, and outcomes; your Tech Lead partner will own sequencing, technical scope, and quality. We expect PMs to stay close to customers, synthesize context for the team, sprint ahead on ambiguous work with lightweight specs and mockups, and increase the team's speed of learning. We default to pragmatic, async written work rather than unnecessary process.
About the Role
We are looking for a Principal Product Manager to lead DX's System Insights portfolio, including out-of-the-box reports, Dashboards, Data Studio, and Pulse.
This portfolio is where complex engineering data becomes understandable and actionable. You will define how DX turns quantitative signals into trusted insights for engineering executives, developer productivity leaders, and platform teams. That includes both opinionated experiences that answer common questions quickly and flexible tools that let sophisticated customers explore their own questions.
You will set portfolio strategy, connect work across multiple product surfaces, and drive decisions through deep customer, market, technical, and quantitative context. The right person is an exceptional data product leader who can move fluently between analytical methods, data models, information design, customer workflows, and business outcomes.
Location
This role is US remote-friendly. Candidates based in Utah are preferred.
Responsibilities
What you'll do
  • Set the vision, strategy, roadmap, and measurable outcomes for DX's System Insights portfolio.
  • Establish a coherent reporting and analytics experience across out-of-the-box reports, Dashboards, Data Studio, and Pulse.
  • Define how DX helps customers move from data to insight to action, reducing time to insight while preserving analytical trust.
  • Balance opinionated, ready-to-use insights with flexible tools for custom exploration and analysis.
  • Raise the quality of report discoverability, information architecture, data visualization, and decision support across the product.
  • You'll own how DX evolves AI across the platform, shaping the roadmap for DX AI, our conversational copilot that lets engineering leaders query their own data to investigate anomalies, compare teams, summarize survey feedback, and generate charts on the fly
  • You will drive the platform toward a more Agentic future where AI proactively surfaces insights and takes action on the user's behalf.
  • Partner with the Data Cloud and Self-Reported Insights teams to combine system and human signals into a differentiated customer experience.
  • Develop deep context on engineering executives, developer productivity leaders, platform teams, the questions they need to answer, and how those answers affect decisions.
  • Shape the most ambiguous opportunities with lightweight specs, prototypes, analytical exploration, and clear written narratives.
  • Always know how the portfolio is performing across usage, adoption, retention, and satisfaction; lead regular growth reviews and bring hypotheses when metrics move.
  • Influence product direction beyond your immediate team and raise the quality of product thinking across DX.
  • Partner with Engineering, Design, customer-facing teams, and go-to-market leaders on pilots, launches, documentation, positioning, and measurement.

Compensation
Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. I
Pay Ranges
In The United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $197,100 - $257,325
Zone B: $177,390 - $231,593
Zone C: $163,593 - $213,580
Qualifications
What we're looking for
  • 7+ years of product management experience, including ownership of a significant analytics, reporting, business intelligence, or data product portfolio.
  • Deep understanding of quantitative data and data analysis, with the ability to reason about data models, metrics, analytical methods, and the limits of the underlying data.
  • Strong technical fluency and the ability to work effectively with senior engineers and data specialists on complex product and architectural tradeoffs.
  • Demonstrated strength in data visualization, information design, reporting workflows, or analytical product experiences.
  • A track record of setting strategy and delivering outcomes across multiple related products or teams.
  • Principal-level influence: the ability to clarify complex decisions, align senior stakeholders, and improve product thinking without relying on reporting authority.
  • Strong customer discovery, synthesis, prioritization, and written communication skills.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity, moving quickly, and making pragmatic tradeoffs without sacrificing quality or enterprise trust.

Nice to have
  • Experience building products for developer productivity, platform engineering, or engineering leadership audiences.
  • Product experience in developer tools, observability, data infrastructure, or business intelligence.
  • Experience building both out-of-the-box reporting and flexible self-service analytics.
  • Experience in a fast-growing startup.
  • Firsthand experience using DX as a customer.
