$40 - $50/hr

Contractor

Job description

About Us
Hawthorne Health is a leading community site network and home research visit solution provider, with 20+ sites and more than 2,000 research experienced healthcare professionals across the U.S. Hawthorne leverages convenient, trusted, healthcare locations, identified patient data, and intelligent technology to accelerate patient access, improve retention, and reduce study costs. By embedding high-quality research within local communities, Hawthorne makes clinical trials more accessible and convenient for patients. Our community-based model shortens timelines and helps bring better treatments to market, faster.
About the Role
Hawthorne Health is seeking a Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) to join our growing clinical research network on a PRN contract basis, supporting clinical trial participants through our Boynton Beach, Florida research site.
This is a remote, part-time opportunity for a Registered Dietitian interested in bringing their expertise into the clinical research space. The Dietitian may be based anywhere in the United States but must maintain an active Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential and active Florida Dietitian/Nutritionist license to provide services to participants located in Florida.
In this role, you will conduct virtual nutrition and lifestyle counseling sessions with clinical trial participants in accordance with study protocols. Visits will be scheduled based on study requirements, participant enrollment, and patient availability, so we're looking for someone who can provide consistent part-time support as patient visits are scheduled.
You'll partner closely with our clinical research team to provide an engaging, high-quality participant experience while ensuring study-specific requirements and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
This is a great opportunity for a Dietitian seeking part-time work and exposure to the growing field of clinical research, while directly supporting patients participating in innovative clinical trials.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct 30-minute, protocol-required telehealth nutrition and lifestyle counseling sessions with assigned clinical trial participants every four weeks throughout the 52-week study period.
  • Provide individualized, evidence-based nutrition counseling and lifestyle education in accordance with the clinical trial protocol and sponsor requirements.
  • Educate participants on healthy dietary habits, physical activity, and sustainable lifestyle modifications to support study objectives.
  • Utilize motivational interviewing and participant-centered communication techniques to encourage participant engagement and adherence throughout the study.
  • Accurately document all participant interactions, counseling sessions, and required assessments in study documentation and electronic systems.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Research Coordinators, Principal Investigators, and the study team to communicate participant progress, scheduling needs, and any protocol-related concerns.
  • Promptly report participant safety concerns, adverse events, or potential protocol deviations to the appropriate study personnel.
  • Complete all required study-specific training and maintain compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), ICH guidelines, HIPAA, sponsor requirements, and all applicable regulatory standards.
  • Maintain participant confidentiality while delivering a professional, compassionate, and engaging telehealth experience.
Effectively manage a flexible remote schedule to ensure timely completion of assigned participant visits.

Requirements
  • Active Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential in good standing through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • Current state licensure as a Registered/Licensed Dietitian, as required by the state(s) in which participants are located.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience providing nutrition counseling in a clinical, outpatient, telehealth, or wellness setting.
  • Experience counseling patients with obesity, weight management, metabolic health, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or related conditions preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based nutrition therapy and behavior change strategies.
  • Excellent communication, motivational interviewing, and patient education skills.
  • Comfortable conducting participant visits via telehealth and documenting encounters electronically.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary clinical research team.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a flexible schedule and complete documentation accurately and on time.
  • Reliable internet connection, laptop and private workspace suitable for telehealth visits.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous clinical research experience or familiarity with Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Experience supporting lifestyle intervention, obesity, metabolic, endocrinology, or cardiovascular programs.
  • Experience using electronic health records (EHR) and/or electronic data capture (EDC) systems.
  • Current GCP certification (or willingness to complete upon hire).

$40 - $50 an hour
Schedule & Engagement
This is a PRN contract position, with hours determined by clinical trial enrollment and scheduled participant visits. Work will primarily be completed remotely through virtual nutrition counseling sessions.
Because visits are driven by study protocols and participant scheduling, weekly hours may vary based on study activity. Candidates should be interested in ongoing part-time work and have the ability to accommodate scheduled participant visits during agreed-upon availability.
Why Hawthorne Health?
At Hawthorne Health, we're working to make clinical trials more accessible and convenient by bringing research closer to the patients and communities we serve.
As a Registered Dietitian supporting our research programs, you'll have the opportunity to apply your clinical expertise in a new setting, work directly with clinical trial participants, and gain exposure to the growing clinical research industry-all while contributing to research that can help bring better therapies to patients faster.
We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
