Secured Transportation Services, LLC (STS) is a specialized transportation and logistics provider serving the nuclear industry. Headquartered in Winder, Georgia, STS manages the packaging, routing, security, and delivery of fresh and spent nuclear fuel, radiological sources, and other radioactive materials for the U.S. Department of Energy, the national laboratories, universities, and commercial nuclear customers, both domestically and internationally.

Position Overview

Lead the strategic growth of high-consequence transportation services, helping expand market presence, strengthen customer relationships, and identify new commercial opportunities. This role combines market intelligence, analytical skills, and relationship-building to support the development and execution of transportation solutions for radioactive materials, spent nuclear fuel, and specialized nuclear logistics. The Associate works closely with senior business development leadership, technical teams, and project managers to identify opportunities and develop proposals aligned with organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Commercial Pipeline - Drive targeted outreach to utilities, national laboratories, government agencies, and private nuclear partners to identify new opportunities.
  • Market Research - Monitor customer programs, procurement schedules, sector developments, and transportation needs to support outreach efforts and identify upcoming commercial opportunities.
  • Initial Client Interaction - Serve as the first point of contact for prospective clients, collecting preliminary information, clarifying needs, and coordinating next steps.
  • Project Scoping Support - Work with technical and operations teams to define early shipment requirements, timelines, and logistics parameters that shape initial project concepts.
  • Proposal and Commercial Support - Assist in developing early cost inputs, preparing proposal materials, and maintaining accurate CRM data to support the commercial pipeline.
  • Government and Regulatory Coordination - Support engagement with federal agencies, regulators, and industry organizations to identify contracting opportunities, monitor policy developments, and ensure commercial activities align with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • New Market Entry - Evaluate emerging domestic and international markets, customer segments, and strategic partnerships to expand the company's transportation and logistics services.

  • CRM & Pipeline Management - Maintain accurate opportunity tracking, sales forecasts, and customer engagement records to support commercial planning and reporting.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, supply chain, nuclear science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience and prior business development, sales support, or commercial analysis experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market, regulatory, and technical information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft clear proposals and presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • High attention to detail, particularly related to documentation and compliance-driven environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with standard business software and CRM tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the nuclear energy sector, transportation logistics, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with radioactive material transportation regulations, nuclear supply chain considerations, or nuclear logistics equipment such as packaging and spent fuel transport systems.
  • Experience interacting with government agencies, utilities, national laboratories, or large industrial clients.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance, which includes having U.S. citizenship, is preferred but not required.
