Job Overview

Mainspring is seeking a highly motivated, business-minded Environmental Analyst to join our Environmental Permitting & Compliance team. You will be a critical member of Mainspring's organization, helping ensure our operations remain compliant and scalable as we grow.

In this role, you will own key environmental compliance workflows and data systems, drive continuous improvement through automation and tool development, and serve as a strategic partner to Operations, Sales, Project Delivery, and other cross-functional stakeholders. You are detail-oriented, proactive, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where you can combine technical rigor with practical execution.

As a key member of the environmental team, you will have the opportunity to make a tremendous impact by helping to shape the environmental infrastructure, processes, and systems that enable safe, compliant, and efficient operations at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Provide thoughtful and operationally practical support to internal stakeholders on environmental compliance and permitting requirements, with a focus on air quality regulations and reporting obligations
  • Partner with Operations and O&M teams to ensure environmental compliance is embedded into day-to-day execution and long-term planning
  • Identify emerging regulatory risks and translate requirements into clear internal actions, documentation, and timelines
  • Architect and refine scalable compliance processes, including permit tracking, reporting workflows, and documentation standards that integrate with Mainspring's Environmental Management System (EMS)
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for automation, system enhancements, and tool development (e.g., scripts, dashboards, database improvements) to improve accuracy, speed, and audit readiness
  • Develop and maintain Permit Action Plans for operational activities, ensuring timely permit acquisition, renewals, and ongoing compliance
  • Own and maintain the air emissions tracking dashboard, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and real-time visibility for internal stakeholders
  • Maintain cross-platform compliance documentation and data integrity across key enterprise systems, ensuring compliance activities, timelines, and records remain complete and audit-ready
  • Maintain records of environmental monitoring data, compliance documentation, and reporting outputs, ensuring timely and accurate EMS inputs
  • Support the coordination and execution of Source Testing activities, including scheduling, contractor management, protocol review support, and site logistics
  • Track and analyze source testing results, flagging potential compliance risks and ensuring accurate internal and external reporting
  • Coordinate Portable Analyzer Checks and support the development of digital tools to simplify and standardize field documentation
  • Coordinate and track maintenance and part replacement schedules for environmental control equipment and monitoring instruments
  • Help elevate environmental compliance capability across the organization by developing clear guidance, documentation, and training materials for operational teams
  • Contribute to the development of internal playbooks and best practices to support compliance execution at scale
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of professional experience in environmental compliance, air quality management, environmental permitting, or regulatory affairs
  • Working knowledge of air quality regulations and programs (e.g., Title V, NSPS, NESHAP, Clean Air Act, CARB requirements including PERP and CARB DG)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
$86,000 - $122,000 a year
