What is a remote network engineer?

A Remote Network Engineer is an IT professional who designs, implements, manages, and troubleshoots computer networks from a remote location. They work with organizations to ensure network connectivity, security, and performance, often using remote access tools to monitor and resolve issues without being physically present on-site. This role is essential for companies with distributed teams or cloud-based infrastructure. Remote Network Engineers may also assist with network upgrades and provide technical support to users around the world.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote network engineer?

To thrive as a Remote Network Engineer, you need a solid understanding of networking protocols, troubleshooting, and security, typically supported by a degree in computer science or a related field and relevant experience. Proficiency with network monitoring tools, VPNs, firewalls, and certifications like Cisco's CCNA or CompTIA Network+ are often required. Job description

Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring a Manager, Network Recruitment to join our Contracting team.

Oscar is the first health insurance company built around a full stack technology platform and a relentless focus on serving our members. We started Oscar in 2012 to create the kind of health insurance company we would want for ourselves—one that behaves like a doctor in the family.

About the role:

You will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of associate recruiters and network specialists, ensuring the successful execution of local network strategies within an assigned territory. You will balance personal recruitment production with the coaching of team members to identify, source, and qualify high-quality healthcare providers. You will serve as a subject matter expert in lead generation and negotiation, while ensuring team data is accurately captured for compliance and expansion reporting. Additionally, you will act as the "super user" and technical lead for network development tools, overseeing their daily application to maximize team output and efficiency

You will report into the Senior Director, Network Development.

Work Location: This is a remote position based in the field, open to candidates who reside: Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas. Your daily work will involve a blend of work from your home office and frequent travel for client meetings. #LI-Remote

Travel requirement up to 75%

Pay Transparency: The base pay for this role is: $100,602 - $132,040 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program and annual performance bonuses.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the daily tactical execution of provider recruiting by coordinating across multiple business units to ensure the team hits specific development goals, cost targets, and adequacy metrics.
  • Supervise the creation and distribution of marketing and communication content, ensuring all team messaging is high-quality and accurately reflects our value proposition to prospective providers.
  • Act as the direct supervisor for network recruiting analysts and associates, providing daily guidance, performance coaching, and technical mentorship to ensure high productivity.
  • Monitor the team's adherence to recruitment policies and outreach workflows, identifying bottlenecks and ensuring every member follows optimized processes for maximum efficiency.
  • Oversee the daily collection of recruitment data and adequacy metrics, preparing regular performance reports for leadership that highlight team wins and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure the team provides prompt, accurate, and professional responses to all provider inquiries regarding contracting and participation, serving as the first point of escalation for complex issues.
  • Facilitate the development of strong, long-term provider relationships within the team, personally managing high-value accounts to ensure network stability and team success.
  • Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in provider network recruiting and contract negotiation.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience, ideally leading a primarily remote team.
  • 3+ years in provider relations or network management, including experience building and delivering presentations to diverse audiences and levels.
  • Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of equivalent work experience
