What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Network Architect, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Network Architect, you need deep knowledge of network design, protocols, and security, typically supported by a degree in computer science or a related field and relevant experience. Familiarity with network hardware, cloud platforms (such as AWS or Azure), and certifications like CCNP or CCIE are commonly required. Building strong relationships remotely is key to ensuring that project objectives are met and that the network infrastructure aligns with business needs.

What is a Remote Network Architect?

A Remote Network Architect is an IT professional who designs and plans computer networks, such as local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and cloud-based networks, while working from a remote location instead of on-site. They assess an organization's networking requirements, develop solutions for performance and security, and oversee the implementation of new network infrastructure. Remote Network Architects often collaborate with other IT staff and stakeholders using digital communication tools to ensure the network meets business needs and industry standards.

The Opportunity:
A well-designed network is critical to move data and enable the command to achieve its missions, but how can an organization make sure its network will fit its current and evolving needs? Crafting the right network, with the right equipment and software, requires a combination of technical skill and careful planning. That's why we need you, a network engineer who knows how to develop the exact network the Navy needs.

You'll apply your knowledge in access control, routing and switching, network design and architecture, system interoperability, IP engineering, network transport layers, multi-protocol label switching, gateway protocol, virtual routing, and forwarding as you join our team of problem-solvers to help the Navy evolve and deploy new capabilities and technologies.
Your knowledge of network protocols, equipment, emerging technology, and configurations will come in handy as you help optimize client operations and modernization. Using your experience in software and hardware firewalls, Aruba hardware, access management systems, Palo Alto firewalls, virtual routing and forwarding, you'll serve as a trusted advisor to clients on critical projects. Using your technical curiosity and knowledge of industry standards, you'll make an impact on national security missions.
