Payroll Specialist (1-Year Contract - Remote)

Our client, an established organization with operations across Canada, is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Payroll Specialist to join their team for a 1-year contract opportunity. Reporting within the payroll department, this role is key in supporting full-cycle payroll execution, system auditing, and employee inquiries.
This position offers a 100% remote work arrangement . You will join a collaborative, customer-focused team that emphasizes knowledge sharing and operational excellence within a standard 37.5-hour workweek.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:
  • Support full-cycle payroll administration, executing gross-to-net calculations, new hires, terminations, leaves of absence, and manual adjustments
  • Utilize Workday Payroll and Workday Time Tracking modules to review timecard entries, resolve discrepancies, monitor daily HR audit reports, and support ESS/MSS functionality
  • Calculate payroll worksheets and ensure accurate payroll journal creation through final processing
  • Respond promptly to employee inquiries via the payroll inbox while ensuring full compliance with Canadian privacy legislation and union/regulatory standards
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and collaborate closely with cross-functional HR and Benefits teams

  • Mandatory Certification: Active Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation through the National Payroll Institute
  • Workday Expertise: Minimum 6 months of direct, hands-on experience using both Workday Payroll and Workday Time Tracking modules
