Job description

Staples is business to business. You're what binds us together.
As a Key Account Developer for Facility Solutions, you'll play an important role in helping Staples grow strategic customer relationships across Commercial Real Estate accounts. You will be responsible for driving retention and growth efforts within a portfolio of complex CRE accounts, including property management firms, ownership groups, and multi-site portfolios.
This role requires consultative selling, digital dexterity, and collaboration to deliver customer-centric solutions in the Janitorial and Sanitation (Jan/San) and Breakroom categories. You will leverage insights, technology, and an understanding of CRE operating models to shape account strategies, influence outcomes, and consistently achieve profitable sales and margin growth goals.
What you'll be doing:
  • Work Directly with assigned Key Account Executives, Vertical Key Account Executives, and sales leaders to identify and pursue programmatic and transactional growth opportunities.

  • Drive share-of-wallet growth and quota attainment with net-new and existing enterprise customers.

  • Grow Janitorial and Sanitation, Breakroom, and Total Coffee Program opportunities, including cleaning supplies, dispensers, safety supplies, breakroom products, and coffee services.

  • Engage customer stakeholders such as property managers, facilities managers, regional directors, procurement partners, and asset managers to understand operational and financial needs.

  • Provide pre-sales support, including capabilities presentations, pricing, quotes, product specifications, comparisons, alternatives, and implementation support.

  • Complete bid and formal request-for-proposal submissions and support win, ramp, and post-win execution so new opportunities convert into realized sales.

  • Monitor customer contracts, pricing structures, program guidelines, and compliance requirements while coordinating internal partners to support a consistent customer experience.

  • Use Salesforce, customer insights tools, reporting, and analytics to identify priority targets, underpenetrated properties, whitespace opportunities, and consumption trends.

  • Recommend alternative products or solutions that improve profitability, service outcomes, availability, or customer engagement.

  • Collaborate with Customer Service, Breakroom Operations, Implementation, pricing, category experts, merchants, field resources, and vendor partners to support customer needs.

What you bring to the table:
  • A customer-first approach and the ability to build trusted relationships with internal partners and customer stakeholders.

  • Strong collaboration skills and comfort working in a focused, team-based selling model.

  • Curiosity, coachability, and eagerness to learn the Staples selling approach and Facility Solutions portfolio.

  • Strategic thinking and the ability to identify category growth opportunities across buildings, regions, and property types.

  • Initiative to challenge the status quo, improve processes, and pursue stronger results for customers and the business.

  • Resilience and sound judgment when balancing multiple priorities in complex sales environments.

  • Comfort connecting sales, support, vendor, and operations partners to help deliver a seamless customer experience.

  • A commitment to learning product categories and supporting program execution that helps customers simplify their workplace needs.

What's needed- Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma, secondary education, vocational education, or equivalent experience.

  • 4+ years of sales or sales-support work experience.

  • 2+ years of experience in Breakroom and Coffee Services and/or the Janitorial Supply industry.

What's needed - Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting or selling to Commercial Real Estate (CRE) customers, property management firms, ownership groups, or multi-site portfolios.

  • Experience managing sales activities across an assigned book of business, including prospecting, pipeline management, quoting, closing, and ongoing program support.

  • Experience using Salesforce or another customer relationship management system.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Project management or implementation-support experience.

  • Experience with Janitorial and Sanitation (Jan/San) and / or Breakroom programs.

We Offer:
  • Inclusive culture with associate-led Business Resource Groups

  • 112 Hours of PTO and Holiday Schedule (7 observed paid holidays + 1 floating holiday)

  • Online and Retail Discounts, Company Match 401(k), Physical and Mental Health Wellness programs, and more!
  • Base pay plus incentive opportunity

The salary range represents the expected compensation for this role at the time of posting. The specific base pay may be influenced by a variety of factors to include the candidate's experience, skill set, education, geography, business considerations, and internal equity. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for bonuses, or other forms of variable compensation.
