Job description

This is a Remote position
Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to provide technical leadership and manage a small team of multidisciplinary engineers, specialists, technicians, and/or contractors within our I&C engineering work group. The I&C Lead Engineer will serve as the primary point of contact for all tasks within the work group, coordinating assignments, ensuring project milestones are met, and applying advanced technical knowledge to drive projects to completion. This role focuses on providing technical direction, coordinating day-to-day project tasks, and making engineering decisions to address complex project challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership & Coordination: Lead and coordinate the work of a small team of engineers and specialists, ensuring all tasks meet designated completion dates. Assign work, track progress, and ensure quality deliverables.
  • Technical Oversight: Manage the day-to-day technical aspects of large engineering projects or multiple smaller projects with complex elements. Serve as the technical lead, applying expert knowledge to guide projects and resolve technical issues.
  • Project Planning & Development: Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct technical aspects of projects, working closely with team members to ensure project alignment.
  • Problem Solving & Decision Making: Apply advanced engineering principles to make independent engineering judgments and decisions on project challenges. Address engineering design problems and utilize critical thinking to resolve issues.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Represent the work group in meetings with the engineering manager and other stakeholders. Communicate progress, raise technical issues, and provide input on technical matters.
  • Engineering Contribution: As a working lead, perform senior-level engineering tasks when required and contribute to engineering assignments as part of regular responsibilities.

Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited curriculum.
  • Experience: Significant experience in electrical and I&C engineering design within a plant or industrial environment, with at least one year of experience in a nuclear organization.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering design principles and practices.
    • Excellent project coordination and team management skills.
    • Ability to independently assess and address complex technical issues.
    • Proficient in scheduling, planning, and coordinating technical work and resolving engineering challenges.
