What is a remote nanny?

A Remote Nanny is a caregiver who provides virtual supervision, entertainment, and educational activities for children through video calls. They engage kids in activities like reading, tutoring, arts and crafts, and interactive games while ensuring their safety under a guardian's presence. Remote nannies do not provide physical care but offer support to parents by keeping children engaged and structured throughout the day.

What does a remote nanny do?

A typical day for a Remote Nanny involves planning and leading interactive virtual activities such as reading, arts and crafts, educational games, or helping with homework via video calls. You’ll often communicate regularly with parents to update them on their child’s progress and coordinate schedules. Some positions may also require light administrative tasks, like preparing lesson plans or documenting activity logs. While you won’t be responsible for in-person care, building a strong rapport with both children and parents is essential for success. This role is ideal for those who are creative, tech-savvy, and passionate about child development in a remote environment.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a remote nanny?

To thrive as a Remote Nanny, you need experience in childcare, strong communication skills, and the ability to engage children virtually using interactive activities. Familiarity with video conferencing platforms, online educational tools, and first aid or CPR certifications are often required. Creativity, patience, and adaptability are key soft skills that set top candidates apart in this remote caregiving role. These skills are essential to ensure children's safety, foster learning and engagement remotely, and build trust with families.

Where do remote nannies make the most money?

Remote nannies tend to earn higher wages in regions with a higher cost of living and greater demand for childcare services. Factors such as experience, certifications, and the number of children cared for can also influence earning potential, regardless of location. Many remote nannies work for families across different areas, often earning competitive pay through specialized skills or flexible schedules.

Job description

SwingDev-a hippo company is the Polish branch of a fast-growing InsurTech product company - Hippo Insurance. We're here to make home insurance smarter and more proactive, using tech to bring fresh solutions. We also create digital products that support our customers, always focusing on what really makes an impact.

Putting a lot of effort into hiring top-tier professionals is a proof that we care a lot about tech experience, the attitude, human approach, and what we could call "culture fit".

"SwingDev is all about people" - yes, it may sound a bit cliche. But whether we're writing code or just hanging out, we know that people are at the heart of everything we do. We like to have a good time and keep things light, even when we're tackling big projects. We could brag about what's making us special, but we've boiled it down to two key ingredients: mature, companionable people who, rather than compete, prefer to inspire and have each other's backs; a culture of trust, empathy, and positivity that keeps us together, lets us interact as teammates and friends, and truly enjoy the ride.

So if you're a QA Engineer looking to shake things up and have a good time while you're at it, you've come to the right place.
What will you do?
  • You'll deeply collaborate with Engineering teams. This includes actively participating in the development of new features and initiatives, from initial requirement analysis and test planning to execution, regression testing, and final release sign-off.
  • You'll partner closely with Product Managers. This means you will be responsible for prioritizing testing efforts, clarifying requirements, challenging assumptions from a quality perspective, coordinating Business Acceptance Testing, and advocating for the needs of our customers.
  • You'll work closely with SDETs to expand and maintain our automated test coverage for new features and regression testing. You'll also collaborate with other manual QA engineers on cross-team and cross-BU projects.
  • You'll proactively identify and mitigate potential risks, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability.
We might be a match if you...
  • Have 3+ years of QA experience, with a focus on manual testing (Black Box, White Box, and Grey Box).
  • Have a good knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Have a good understanding of testing integration, functional, end-to-end, and API tests (Postman).
  • Have experience with test case design, execution, and reporting for complex systems (front-end and back-end).
  • Have an ability to create test cases and collections that exercise the requirements and business rules in colaboration with PMs.
  • Worked with test case management tools (preferably XRay).
  • Have good analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Are an independent problem solver but also a collaborative team player.
  • Have a great command of English (written & spoken) and at least basic of Polish.
  • Are available in the afternoons - we prioritize everyone's personal time and work-life fit, but since we work in multinational teams, occasional evening meetings may be necessary to ensure smooth communication across time zones.

You will get extra points for:
  • Experience working in a product company, ideally a startup/scale-up.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and their impact on the QA process.
  • Experience with Jira and agile testing methodologies.
  • Experience with Salesforce or any other CRM.
Recruitment process:
  • Send us your CV - it's the best way for us to get to know you.
  • Record a short, 20-minutes long one-way interview (async, on your schedule).
  • Meet with one of our Recruiters.
  • Join for a Technical Interview.
  • Have a conversation with your potential Engineering Manager.
  • Meet on the final stage with Marcin and Alicja.
  • and... welcome aboard!
