Job description

Job Title: Subject Matter Expert, Rotating Machinery Type: Long-term Contract Work Model: Remote

Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight for first-of-a-kind large nuclear fluid pumps through design, testing, and manufacturing.
  • Review supplier deliverables to ensure the pump design operates as needed.
  • Support pump development by authoring and maintaining specifications and other design inputs necessary for pump design.
  • Support pump maintenance and operation planning.
  • Plan and oversee separate and integrated effects testing, including pump qualification programs.
  • Ensure proper application of applicable design codes and standards (e.g., ASME, ANS, ASTM, IEEE, NFPA).
  • Provide technical guidance on nuclear and non-nuclear design standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish, maintain, and allocate system requirements and engineering specifications.
  • Oversee development and integration of design documentation, including P&IDs, 3D models, and interface drawings.
  • Lead preparation and coordination of complete design packages (calculations, reports, drawings, specifications).
  • Support project planning and scheduling to ensure alignment with overall plant design delivery milestones.
Requirements
  • B.S. in Mechanical or related discipline from an accredited university and 15+ years of proven mechanical systems experience.
  • Experience with large vertical pump design and manufacture.
  • Experience with full hardware lifecycle, from cradle to grave.
  • Experience in high temperature and multi-discipline integration, highly desired with nuclear handling process systems, fluid systems, or fluid system component design a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated experience in fluid and structural analysis, tolerance analysis, and the ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Attention to detail and aspiration for technical excellence.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter and possess ability to coordinate and lead a design team’s effort with minimal direction.
  • Ability to handle projects that include many competing objectives and design constraints, with ability to resolve conflicts between objectives.
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.
