Job description

This is a remote position.

About the Firm

We are representing a full-service CPA firm serving clients nationally. The firm's mission is to simplify clients' financial lives and help them keep more of their money through proactive personal, business, and estate tax mitigation strategies. Our client is known for its cohesive, relationship-based culture, remarkably low turnover, and a long-term investment in the growth of its people.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Senior Tax Manager or Director to lead its small business and high-net-worth individual tax pod. This is a pod leadership role — you will own the quality and direction of all work flowing through the team, with essentially 100% review responsibility and minimal to no prep. The right person brings deep expertise in HNW individual taxation, trust and estate work, family tax planning, and wealth transfer strategies, alongside experience serving small business clients. They are ready to step into a senior leadership role within a firm that values long-term client relationships above everything else.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the small business and HNW individual tax pod, overseeing staff and all work product flowing through the pod

  • Review complex individual tax returns for high-net-worth clients, including trust, estate, and gift tax returns

  • Review small business returns and serve as a senior technical resource across entity types within the pod

  • Drive proactive tax planning conversations covering individual tax strategies, family tax planning, gift tax, charitable planning, and wealth and succession planning

  • Research complex tax issues and develop well-reasoned positions

  • Manage workflow and priorities across multiple client engagements simultaneously, ensuring quality and deadlines are met

  • Collaborate with the firm's broader team and clients' outside advisors as appropriate

  • Contribute to a culture of long-term client relationships, continuity, and exceptional service

Requirements
  • 7+ years of public accounting experience with a strong emphasis on HNW individual and small business taxation

  • Hands-on experience with trust and estate returns, gift tax, family tax planning, charitable planning, and/or wealth and succession planning

  • CPA or EA preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master's in Taxation a plus

  • Prior experience in a senior review or leadership role within a public accounting firm

  • Excellent judgment, strong technical communication skills, and a genuine commitment to client outcomes

Benefits
  • Base salary: $150k-$200k+, commensurate with experience

  • Annual discretionary bonus up to 15%

  • 20 days PTO; overtime beyond 40 hours converts to additional comp time

  • 100% company-paid family health and dental insurance premiums

  • 401(k) with dollar-for-dollar company match up to 6%

  • Fully remote position
