They use programming languages like Swift, Kotlin, or Java and collaborate with teams using digital tools. Their responsibilities include writing code, debugging, implementing app features, and ensuring the performance and security of mobile apps. Remote developers must also communicate effectively with team members and clients through online channels.

How do remote mobile application developers typically collaborate with team members and handle communication challenges?

Remote Mobile Application Developers often work closely with cross-functional teams, including designers, backend developers, and product managers, using tools like Slack, Jira, and GitHub to facilitate communication and project tracking. Regular video meetings and code reviews are common practices to ensure alignment and maintain code quality. One of the main challenges in this remote setup is overcoming time zone differences and maintaining clear, timely communication. Successful developers proactively share updates, ask questions, and participate in virtual stand-ups to stay connected and productive.

Job description

Company Description
At Brushfire, it's our goal to be the go-to ticketing and registration platform our customers deserve. We're an event management software-as-a-service platform that provides solutions for ticketing & registration, virtual events, and event apps. Last year we powered over 30,000 events, all around the world, ranging anywhere from a handful of people to more than 20,000 attendees.
Brushfire helps power successful events around the world by providing great software and service that never stops improving. We believe every organization deserves the most elegantly architected platform for event management, both at the technology and service layer.
Job Description
The Senior React Native Engineer owns Brushfire's entire mobile platform - two distinct React Native applications serving different audiences, both shipping to iOS and Android. One is Brushfire's organizer-facing app; the other is a white-label attendee-facing app that ships as individually branded builds to the App Store and Google Play on behalf of clients. This role owns the full mobile lifecycle: development, testing, pipeline management, and store releases. The right person is a senior-level mobile engineer who can operate independently, touch the APIs their apps consume, and contribute meaningfully to a planned platform consolidation effort.
The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is extremely comfortable with the latest technology, trends, and favors concrete execution over abstract ideation. We are proudly impartial when it comes to solutions - we like to try new things and the best idea is always the winning idea, regardless of the way we've done it previously.
This is a full-time work-from-home position.
Qualifications
The following characteristics are necessary for a qualified applicant to be considered:
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • 3+ years of experience working with React Native
  • 2+ years of experience submitting and maintaining cross-platform mobile applications in the iOS App Store and Google Play Store
  • 2+ years of experience working with TypeScript
  • 1+ years of experience working in agile/scrum workflow including detailed use of tools like JIRA and Shortcut
  • Demonstrable, transformative use of AI development tooling in a real engineering workflow
  • Experience with PubSub databases, specifically Google Cloud Firestore and Firebase Realtime Database
  • Experience with Github (or other similar version control systems) and CI/CD pipeline tools like Azure Devops and Github actions
  • Ability to communicate fluently, pleasantly, and effectively-both orally and in writing, in the English language-with customers and co-workers.
  • Concrete examples and evidence of work product and what role the applicant played in it

The following characteristics are not necessary but are highly desired:
  • Sufficient backend instinct to read, understand, and modify API endpoints without breaking things
  • Experience writing unit tests in any language
  • Experience with SQL Databases
  • Experience with C# and React
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or related technical field
  • Ability to contribute to strategic and planning sessions around architecture and implementation
