Job Summary

The IT Information Security Identity & Access Management team at HOOPP is currently looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and highly motivated co-op student to help us modernize our identity platforms and build on our foundational identity controls supporting our Information Security program.

Working in an agile team environment, you will learn about Information Security, Identity & Access Management, identity governance, and gain hands-on exposure to the pension industry, and help make a major difference in the lives of over 400,000 current and future pensioners in our community.

What you will do:

  • Collaborate and work closely with your fellow team members within Identity & Access Management as well as the broader Information Security team.

  • Assist in the development of processes and procedures, and provide continuous improvement to existing processes with a focus on documentation, scripting, and automation, as well as programming against APIs

  • Support the analysis of the team's cloud security posture, alignment with industry best practices for server management and maintenance

  • Help design or enhance automated workflows to support identity governance and administration

  • Proactively identify security issues and risks around identity, and implement general controls to prevent or mitigate those risks

  • Maintaining current knowledge of Information Security and Identity standards and best practices, and monitor trends and changes impacting the Information Security space

  • Support the team's response to IT incidents

How you'll work with us:

  • You'll be treated as a full member of the team, not an observer - you'll own a piece of work end to end, present it, and defend your design choices

What you will bring:

  • Currently enrolled in a recognized co-op program for Computer Science with specialization in Information or Cyber Security

  • Knowledge and understanding of IT Information Security and Identity & Access Management

  • Some understanding of cloud security principles relating to IaaS/PaaS/SaaS, and a background in working within enterprise cloud environments such as Azure

  • Some experience in the identification of security vulnerabilities

  • Familiarity with security monitoring or analysis tools (e.g., SIEM, Azure Sentinel) through coursework, labs, or personal projects

  • Have a conceptual understanding and/or some experience in technological concepts such as IT architecture, cloud technologies, applications, network infrastructure

  • Understand security best practices with regards to operating systems, network appliances, and databases

  • Knowledge of cloud-based environments, specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure

  • Experience or interest in scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) or working with APIs for automation

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work well in a dynamic and fast-moving team-based environment

  • High enthusiasm, self-starter and urgency to get things done with attention to detail

  • Strong customer-service skills and ability to work in a dynamic team environment

  • Organizational and problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize and multi-task

  • Exposure to different generative Artificial Intelligence products.

The expected hourly rate range for this role is $21.00 to $31.00
