How does a remote Meta Data Science role typically collaborate with cross-functional teams despite being off-site?

In a remote Meta Data Science position, collaboration with cross-functional teams—such as product managers, engineers, and designers—is primarily facilitated through virtual communication tools like video conferencing, chat platforms, and collaborative project management software. Regular stand-ups, sprint meetings, and asynchronous updates help ensure alignment on project goals and timelines. While remote work offers flexibility, it also requires proactive communication and documentation to maintain transparency and foster effective teamwork. Building relationships remotely may take extra effort, but companies like Meta provide structured onboarding and virtual community events to support team cohesion.

Job description

Job Title: Middle School Science Teacher
Location: Remote (Must reside in AZ)
Reports to: Principal, K-8
Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt
About Primavera Online School
Primavera Online School is an accredited, tuition-free public charter school serving students across Arizona for more than 25 years. We specialize in flexible, student-centered online education designed to meet learners where they are-academically, emotionally, and socially.
We believe every student deserves access to an education that adapts to their life, not the other way around. At Primavera, we support diverse learners, empower families, and partner closely with educators to create personalized learning experiences that drive real outcomes. Our work is grounded in care, accountability, and a deep commitment to helping students succeed-both in school and beyond.
As a fully remote organization, we value clear communication, collaboration, and ownership. You'll find a mission-driven team that takes its responsibility to students seriously while supporting one another as professionals and humans
The Team You Will Join
You'll be part of the Middle School team, working closely with dedicated middle school teachers across content areas, academic success coaches, school counselors, instructional coaches and school leadership. This team is responsible for delivering rigorous, standards-aligned science instruction to middle school learners, building scientific reasoning, inquiry skills, and the critical thinking that prepares every student for high school and beyond.
The team culture is collaborative, fast-paced, and deeply student-centered, and you'll have opportunities to grow as an educator through ongoing PD, collaborate with passionate colleagues across content areas, and be part of a team that believes every middle schooler can thrive-academically, socially, and as a whole person while partnering across Primavera Online School.
The Difference You Will Make
In this role, your work will directly impact students and families by meeting middle schoolers where they are. At Primavera, success isn't one-size-fits-all-for one student it might mean finally connecting with science through a real-world application or virtual experiment; for another, it might mean developing the discipline and critical thinking skills to tackle rigorous coursework with confidence.
You'll help nurture academic growth, build confidence, and support the whole child, contributing to Primavera's mission in a meaningful and visible way.
A Typical Day Looks Like
While no two days are exactly the same, you can expect to:
  • Deliver engaging, standards-aligned science instruction through virtual sessions, small groups, and one-on-one check-ins; adapt pacing and strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of middle school students
  • Monitor student progress, attendance, academic integrity, and engagement-using data to make informed instructional decisions and provide timely, meaningful feedback
  • Develop and implement individualized learning goals, differentiate instruction for diverse learners, and design and grade assessments that measure scientific understanding and prepare students for standardized testing
  • Partner with academic student success coaches, school counselors, administrators, instructional coaches and families to support the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs of every student
  • Use online learning platforms, student information systems, and communication tools to manage instruction, documentation, family outreach, and professional collaboration
  • This position requires availability to work core business hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Arizona time, Monday through Friday.

This role balances structured virtual sessions with responsive, relationship-driven support and is well-suited for someone who enjoys connecting with middle schoolers at one of the most pivotal stages of their development, sparking curiosity about the world around them, and showing up every day with purpose in a fast-paced virtual environment
Your Expertise Includes
We're looking for someone who brings:
  • Valid Standard Professional Arizona Teaching Certificate with appropriate middle school science endorsement
  • Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Teaching experience at the middle school level in a virtual or in-person setting
  • Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills with students, families, and colleagues

Bonus points if you also have:
  • Experience using adaptive technology tools, learning management systems, or student information platforms in an instructional setting
  • Background in differentiated instruction, science inquiry-based learning, or supporting diverse learners including English Language Learners and students with IEPs

Essential Duties & Professional Expectations
All Staff

  • Participation in state testing is a condition of employment for all instructional and student-facing roles.
  • State testing may span approximately 6 consecutive weeks and require full availability during scheduled testing windows.
  • Teachers must be able to travel to assigned testing locations within the state of Arizona, including locations outside of their home city.
  • Attendance during state testing is mandatory, and time off will not be approved during designated testing windows except as required by law and in extraordinary circumstances.
  • Teachers are required to assist with proctoring, coordination, and student support during testing.
  • Attendance at key school events (e.g., student orientations, school-sponsored activities, and other events aligned to this role) is required, based on role responsibilities and reasonable proximity to the event location. These events may occur outside of regular working hours and may require occasional travel.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful workplace where all team members feel valued, supported, and empowered to contribute their best work. Diverse ideas strengthen our school, improve outcomes for students, and help us better serve the families and communities who rely on us.
All qualified individuals are encouraged to apply, and we strive to create an environment where everyone feels a true sense of belonging and purpose.
How We'll Take Care of You
We believe that supporting our team members is essential to supporting our students. At Primavera, care, balance, and well-being are part of how we operate-not extras.
Our commitment to you includes:
  • A competitive total compensation package, including medical, dental, vision, and voluntary benefits
  • Well-being support that fits real life-from virtual wellness programs and wellness coaching to flexible work options for select roles
  • Generous PTO options, including unlimited PTO for exempt roles and "life happens" days when flexibility is needed

  • Recognition and rewards that celebrate birthdays, meaningful milestones, and the important work you do for students and families
  • Quarterly Town Halls to keep communication transparent, aligned, and human
