Remote Menu Designer Jobs in Massachusetts (NOW HIRING)

Remote Menu Designer information

What is a remote menu designer?

Remote Menu Designers are professionals who create and optimize menus for restaurants, cafes, and food service businesses while working from a remote location. They collaborate with clients to design visually appealing and user-friendly menus that align with the brand and enhance the customer experience. Their work involves selecting fonts, colors, layouts, and sometimes even suggesting food descriptions or pricing strategies. Remote Menu Designers often use design software and communicate with clients via email, video calls, or project management tools. This role combines creativity, marketing knowledge, and an understanding of food service trends.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote menu designer?

To thrive as a Remote Menu Designer, you need expertise in graphic design, a strong understanding of typography and layout, and a portfolio demonstrating creative menu designs. Familiarity with design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and online collaboration tools is typically required. Strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret client needs are crucial soft skills for this role. These skills ensure visually appealing, functional, and client-focused menus that effectively enhance a restaurant’s brand and customer experience.

How does a remote menu designer typically collaborate with chefs and restaurant managers to ensure menu accuracy and appeal?

As a Remote Menu Designer, collaboration with chefs and restaurant managers is often conducted through video calls, shared digital platforms, and cloud-based design tools. Regular communication is essential to accurately reflect new dishes, seasonal changes, and branding guidelines. Designers often review dish photos, ingredient lists, and feedback from the culinary team to create visually engaging and accurate menus. Building strong relationships and maintaining open lines of communication are key to overcoming the challenge of not being physically present on-site.

Job description

As Senior Product Designer on the Funnel Conversion pod, you'll own the experience that turns intent into a completed order: helping customers build the order they need from a menu, and giving them an intuitive, frictionless checkout to complete it. This is one of the highest-leverage surfaces at ezCater and every improvement in how people browse, build, and check out compounds directly into GMV and conversion. You'll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data, and Research to find and remove friction across the full path from menu to confirmed order, for both individual and group orders.
What You'll Do:

  • Own the menu-to-checkout journey end to end, designing across menu browsing, item selection, cart, checkout, group ordering, and account sign up/in, so the path from discovery to completed order feels seamless rather than stitched together across surfaces.
  • Partner with Product and Analytics on experimentation, defining hypotheses, designing tests, and interpreting results to decide when to iterate, when to pivot, and when a friction point warrants a deeper structural fix rather than a quick patch.
  • Design for the complexity of group ordering alongside single-order checkout, ensuring both experiences share a coherent system rather than diverging into two disconnected products.
  • Raise the bar on interaction, systems, and visual design as you craft user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and prototypes. Contribute to and advocate for our design system so the funnel feels consistent, scalable, and accessible across every surface a customer touches on their way to checkout.
  • Facilitate alignment across disciplines, running workshops, critiques, and working sessions that help Product, Engineering, and Analytics converge on where to invest next, and bring partners along with clear storytelling and artifacts.
  • Use AI-powered tools to move faster across the design process, from early prototyping to research synthesis, and help raise the bar for how the broader team adopts them.

What You Have

  • 5+ years of experience as a product designer, UX designer, interaction designer, or similar role, with accompanying experience in visual/graphic design.
  • Comfort designing systems, not just screens-understanding how individual decisions scale across complex customer journeys, edge cases, and future functionality.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently identify opportunities, frame ambiguous problems, and influence product direction-not just execute against predefined requirements.
  • A track record of shaping what teams work on, not just how it looks - helping teams to solve clearly framed problems with measurable outcomes.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback, as well as regularly seeking feedback on your own performance.
  • Proficiency with the Figma suite, Claude design, and prototyping tools.
  • Experience designing with and contributing to a robust design system.
  • A detailed portfolio that showcases:
  • Strong storytelling and communication skills that show you can explain complex flows and tradeoffs in ways that resonate with both technical and non-technical partners.
  • Well-developed collaboration and facilitation skills. You're as thoughtful about how teams work together as you are about the pixels.
  • A sharp mind, a soft heart, and a large funny bone.
  • Ability to travel up to 5 days per quarter for Together Weeks, team gatherings, and other events, when applicable.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience designing checkout, cart, or payment flows specifically, including handling error states, payment failures, or fraud-related friction.
  • Experience designing group ordering, multi-participant, or collaborative purchasing experiences.
  • Experience in the restaurant, catering, delivery, or gig space.
  • Experience with service design, journey mapping, or complex operational workflows that cross multiple teams and tools.
  • Experience working in experimentation-heavy environments (e.g., A/B testing, incremental UX improvements guided by data).
  • Familiarity with approaches like Jobs To Be Done, systems thinking, or other frameworks for structuring complex problem spaces.

The national total target cash compensation range for this position, including base salary and bonus target, is $146,000-$187,000 annually.*

*Please note: Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise and region & may vary from the amount above. This range does not represent additional compensation benefits (such as equity, 401K or medical, dental or vision insurance).
