Job Title: Medical Billing Specialist
Location: Remote (U.S. based)


Schedule:Full-Time, 8 hours/day between 7:30am - 5:30pm Eastern Standard Time (EST)
About the Role:
Join JTS Health Partners as an Medical Billing Specialist and play a vital role in enhancing cash performance for hospitals and healthcare organizations. Your main focus will be to identify and resolve underpayments, appeal claim denials, and provide exceptional support to our clients through your attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze accounts to identify underpayments and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), remittances, and payer documentation for claim resolutions.
- Submit appeals and reconsiderations for denied or underpaid claims.
- Communicate effectively with insurance payers, patients, and clients via phone and written correspondence.
- Utilize portals such as Availity, Optum, MMIS, and Medicare contractors.
- Work with Accounts Receivable (AR) reports, process corrected claims, and resolve credit balances.
- Apply Lean process improvement principles to daily tasks.
- Ensure compliance with standard work procedures and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with a supportive team dedicated to performance excellence.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 1+ year of experience in hospital back-end revenue cycle functions (denials, billing, cash applications, etc.) or 2+ years in an accounting environment.
- Proficiency in Excel and MS Office tools.
- Knowledge of claim submission, insurance follow-up, and remittance analysis.
- Strong analytical, communication, and time management skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- High School diploma or GED required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or a related field.
- HFMA Certified Patient Account Representative (CPAR or ACPAR).
- Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR).
