Job Title: Autodesk Inventor Specialist

Job Type: Contractor
Location: Remote

Job Overview

We are seeking experienced Autodesk Inventor Specialists to contribute their expertise to an innovative project at the intersection of mechanical engineering and emerging AI technology. In this role, you will help improve next-generation AI systems by creating, reviewing, and refining mechanical CAD models and technical documentation. No prior AI experience is required—your engineering and CAD expertise are what matter most.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop fully parametric 3D CAD models of mechanical parts and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor (or comparable CAD platforms) based on detailed design requirements.

  • Modify and update existing CAD models while maintaining parametric integrity and industry best practices.

  • Review and audit CAD models for dimensional accuracy, GD&T compliance, manufacturability, and design quality.

  • Create, interpret, and validate detailed engineering drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5 (or equivalent) GD&T standards.

  • Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles across manufacturing processes including injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, and casting.

  • Support AI model development by documenting design decisions, engineering rationale, model revisions, and audit findings.

  • Collaborate remotely with cross-functional teams and provide clear, technical feedback to improve engineering datasets and AI-generated outputs.

Required Skills
  • Autodesk Inventor.

  • Parametric 3D CAD modeling.

  • GD&T (ASME Y14.5).

  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM).

  • Technical drawing interpretation.

  • Assembly-level mechanical design.

  • Reverse engineering (Scan-to-CAD, Point Cloud-to-Model).

  • Manufacturing process knowledge (Injection Molding, Sheet Metal, CNC Machining, Casting).

  • CAD model auditing.

  • CAD automation and scripting (Python, iLogic, VBA, NX Open).

  • Technical documentation.

  • Strong written and verbal communication.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

  • High attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in parametric CAD modeling for edit-level tasks; 10+ years preferred for complex design and model creation.

  • Expert-level proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, with experience in comparable CAD platforms such as FreeCAD, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360 considered highly valuable.

  • Practical experience applying GD&T (ASME Y14.5 or equivalent) in production environments.

  • Proven Design for Manufacturability (DFM) experience across multiple manufacturing processes, including injection molding, sheet metal, CNC machining, and casting.

  • Experience with reverse engineering workflows such as Scan-to-CAD and Point Cloud-to-Model reconstruction.

  • Ability to design and manage complex assemblies and mechanical systems.

  • Experience with CAD automation, scripting, or API development using Python, iLogic, VBA, NX Open, or similar technologies.
