Job description

Summary
You will serve as a RESEARCH PSYCHOLOGIST in the WARFIGHTER PERFORMANCE DIV of NAVSUBMEDRSCHLAB NEW LONDON CT.

Duties
Help
  • You will carry out research that contributes to the general knowledge in the fields of Industrial/Organizational Psychology, particularly assessment development and validation, training/programmatic evaluation, and work motivation.
  • You will develop programmatic plans for multi-year projects to conduct basic research, applied research, and/or device test and evaluation.
  • You will serve as a Principal/Associate Investigator, carrying out your own research and reporting the findings to the Warfighter Performance Department, project sponsors, and other organizations within the U.S. Navy and the scientific community.
  • You will serve as Project Leader, providing technical direction to other researchers, technicians, and military personnel.
  • You will collaborate with or oversee the work of others in the department.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is eligible for ad-hoc/situational telework at the discretion of management.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-14 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Directing independent research programs
  • Designing and analyzing psychological experiments
  • Evaluating and assessing research data
  • Preparing written products that provide and explain scientific information
  • Giving technical direction to research assistants carrying out research

To qualify for the GS-13 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Developing and implementing independent research programs
  • Executing psychological screening and assessments
  • Writing scientific articles and reports for scientific and lay communities
  • Leading and training research teams to deliver products on time and within budget

Degree: Major or equivalent in Psychology.
