Part-Time Literacy Tutor (Remote)

Hoot Reading is a leading online tutoring provider delivering 1:1, evidence-based literacy instruction through a network of qualified teachers. Partnering with K-12 school districts, educational organizations, and families across North America, Hoot provides high-impact tutoring and intervention during the school day, afterschool, and at home.
Teachers at Hoot provide 1:1 Structured Literacy lessons over videocall inside an innovative tech platform that supports individualized assessment and instruction for each student, working with them exactly in the skill areas they need!
The ideal Candidate:
  • Bachelor's degree in education (or equivalent) is required.
  • 2+ years of K-6 teaching experience with a strong grasp of phonics, decoding and reading fundamentals.
  • Tech-savvy with a reliable laptop, internet, and quiet workspace.
  • Maintains professionalism and effectiveness while working with competing priorities and diverse student needs.
  • Creates inclusive learning environments where students feel respected, valued, and supported.
  • Demonstrates resilience and flexibility when addressing complex academic, behavioral, and social-emotional challenges.
  • Experience supporting English learners and multilingual students is a plus.

Your Availability and Schedule:
  • Hours: We are currently looking for teachers who can support lessons between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM CT, Monday through Thursday, with peak teaching hours between 8:30 AM and 1:00 PM CT. While some late afternoon and evening opportunities may be available, they are limited. This is a part-time role, and hours vary based on student enrollment and scheduling needs.
  • Commitment: Teachers can expect to work 5-15 hours per week, depending on program demand and alignment with your availability. Actual hours are not guaranteed.
  • Start Date: September 7,2026 - onboarding with programs beginning at the end of September.
  • Consistency: Students meet with the same teacher three times per week at the same time of day. For this reason, we prioritize teachers who can offer consistent availability across multiple weekdays (Monday to Thursday).
