What is remote manual testing?

Remote manual testing is a software quality assurance process where testers manually execute test cases and report bugs from a location outside of a traditional office environment, typically from home or another remote location. Unlike automated testing, manual testing requires human intervention to verify application functionality, usability, and identify issues that automated scripts might miss. Remote manual testers use collaboration tools, test management platforms, and communication channels to coordinate with development teams and stakeholders. This approach allows for flexibility in work location while ensuring software meets quality standards before release.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote manual tester?

To thrive as a Remote Manual Tester, you need a solid understanding of software testing methodologies, attention to detail, and experience with test case creation and execution, often supported by a relevant degree or QA certification. Familiarity with bug tracking systems like Jira, test management tools such as TestRail, and basic knowledge of databases or web technologies is commonly required. Strong communication, self-motivation, and problem-solving skills are essential for collaborating with distributed teams and managing tasks independently. These skills ensure accurate defect identification, effective teamwork, and high-quality software releases in a remote work environment.

How does collaboration typically work for remote manual testers within distributed teams?

Remote manual testers often collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and automation testers through virtual meetings, project management tools, and communication platforms like Slack or Microsoft Teams. Regular stand-ups and sprint planning sessions help ensure everyone is aligned on testing priorities and timelines. Effective documentation and clear bug reporting are essential, as remote environments rely heavily on written communication to track issues and progress. Being proactive in asking questions and sharing updates helps remote testers stay connected and contribute to team goals.

Job description

Senior SDET, Automation Quality and Test Engineering

Position: Senior SDET

Location: Hybrid if local to Irvine, CA. 100% remote if you live more than 30 miles from the office.

Our client is one of the leading mortgage technology companies in the country, investing heavily in AI-driven automation across the full loan lifecycle. They are looking for a Senior SDET to build and own the automated test infrastructure that keeps a fast-moving, regulated platform safe as it scales.

Why Is This a Great Opportunity?

  • Build test automation from the ground up for a high-impact fintech platform
  • Work on genuinely complex systems including LOS integrations, AI-driven underwriting, broker portal workflows, and compliance-critical automation
  • AI-first team where tooling and process are built around accelerating delivery
  • Competitive salary, medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO
  • Hybrid flexibility if local to Irvine, or fully remote

    Responsibilities

  • Design and own test automation strategy across API, integration, and end-to-end layers covering LOS and broker portal workflows
  • Build test frameworks, fixtures, synthetic loan files, and environment seeding tools the development team actually uses
  • Develop evaluation harnesses for AI and LLM features including golden datasets, eval suites, and regression detection for prompt and model changes
  • Convert manual UAT scripts from Ops and Sales into automated coverage
  • Define quality gates for pilot expansion and instrument production monitoring to catch issues early
  • Verify compliance-critical behavior: disclosure timing, fee tolerances, audit trails, and data integrity across systems
  • Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines and maintain ongoing regression coverage

    AI-Assisted Development, Required

  • Daily use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or equivalent) as a core part of your workflow, not occasional autocomplete
  • Ability to decompose work into well-structured prompts and agentic tasks, then critically review, test, and harden AI-generated code before it ships
  • Experience using AI agents to generate, maintain, and triage tests at scale
  • Candidates who cannot provide a concrete recent example of AI-assisted work do not pass the phone screen

    Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years in software engineering with at least 4 focused on test automation and SDET work
  • Strong coding skills in TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, Java, or C#, with hands-on experience building API and E2E test frameworks (Playwright, Cypress, pytest, Postman) and integrating into CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience testing complex multi-system integrations including mocking, contract testing, and test data management
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Mortgage or regulated fintech experience: LOS platforms, broker portals, AUS, or disclosure systems
  • Experience evaluating LLM or ML systems in production including eval frameworks and non-deterministic output testing

Salary: $130,000 to $145,000 annually, depending on experience

Work Authorization: Must verify identity and eligibility to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

To apply: Send your resume to danieln@noorstaffing.com

Benefits: medical, dental, vision, retirement, PTO.

Noor Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Physical Requirements: standing, bending, reaching, lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally, with or without accommodation.
