Key Responsibilities (What You Are Doing)

  • Develop and refine the cookbook's outline, chapter organization, page allocation, and recurring editorial features.
  • Review an initial recipe list and manuscript to curate a final collection of approximately 125-150 recipes.
  • Edit, adapt, enhance, or replace recipes using approved Good Housekeeping sources while maintaining editorial quality and consistency.
  • Write and edit front matter, chapter introductions, recipes, cooking tips, pantry guidance, shopping tools, sidebars, charts, ingredient substitutions, and other supporting editorial content.
  • Create a practical and engaging No-Stress Four-Week Meal Plan that helps readers confidently prepare meals.
  • Translate complex food and nutrition concepts into clear, accessible, and engaging consumer-facing content while partnering with nutrition reviewers to ensure accuracy and credibility.
  • Create and manage a comprehensive art log, coordinate manuscript art references, and write promotional materials including cover and catalog copy.
  • Implement developmental and line edits, review copy edits and layouts, resolve editorial queries and inconsistencies, and manage multiple deliverables while meeting project deadlines.


Qualifications (What We're Looking For)

  • 5+ years of experience producing and editing book content or equivalent experience.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated passion for recipes, food, and consumer-focused culinary content.
  • Experience developing cookbook or food editorial content from concept through publication.
  • Ability to simplify complex food and nutrition topics into engaging, reader-friendly content.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Creative mindset with a willingness to bring fresh ideas and innovative approaches to editorial content.
  • Collaborative approach and experience working with cross-functional stakeholders, including nutrition reviewers and design teams.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • This is a fully remote position.

The hourly rate for this role is between $50/hr -$100/hr. This position is not eligible for bonus or commission compensation. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

  • Maintain a consistent Good Housekeeping voice and editorial approach throughout the manuscript.
  • Create and manage a detailed art log and coordinate manuscript art references.
  • Write cover copy, catalog copy, and related promotional content.
  • Implement developmental edits and line edits.
  • Review copy edits, answer queries, and resolve manuscript inconsistencies.
  • Review layouts and write, revise, shorten, or expand copy as needed.
  • Manage multiple deliverables and editorial review rounds while meeting established deadlines.
