Role Description
Support the design and implementation of self-service analytics on a cloud data platform and Tableau for a State agency client. Responsibilities include provisioning the environment, defining data models and source-to-target mappings, building data ingestion pipelines, developing Tableau dashboards, and conducting functional testing. The engineer will also contribute to technical design documentation and support the development of a scaling roadmap for broader production rollout.
Technical Skill Set
•Hands-on experience provisioning and configuring cloud data platform environments including databases, schemas, compute resources, and role-based access control (RBAC)
•Proficiency in SQL for data transformation, stored procedures, and data quality validation
•Experience with data loading and ingestion mechanisms including streaming, micro-batch, and bulk load patterns
•Experience designing and implementing cloud-native ETL/ELT pipelines using batch and CDC-based ingestion patterns
•Strong understanding of layered data architecture concepts (Medallion / Landing → Bronze → Silver → Gold)
•Experience with logical and physical data modeling and producing source-to-target mapping specifications
•Hands-on Tableau development including workbooks, dashboards, and cloud data platform-connected data sources with live and extract connection configurations
•Familiarity with Tableau row-level security (RLS) and user-based access controls
•Working knowledge of cloud data services including object storage and database migration/replication services
•Ability to produce technical design documentation, data mapping specifications, and functional testing artifacts for both technical and business audiences
•Familiarity with Python or shell scripting for pipeline automation and workflow orchestration
Nice to Have
•Experience with IaC tooling such as Terraform or GitLab CI/CD
•Prior experience on State/public sector engagement
