The Principal Solutions Architect(role is remote but must be located in Dallas, TX or Louisville, KY) leads teams of System and Solution Architects and manages the operation of Digital platforms and services supporting digital experiences and technology platform development. As the Principal Architect digital platforms, they provide strategic advice and guidance to cloud infrastructure and DevSecOps solutions teams for maintaining and building capabilities for high profile systems that support the digital business at Humana. As the lead for Solutions and Systems architecture they lead a team of highly skilled architects with broad, advanced technical experience across digital marketing sales and online presence in websites, mobile apps and omni-channel communications with Humana's customers and partners. The ideal candidate for this position will have a broad understanding of cloud computing, systems architecture, scalable solutions building and integration. With a background in engineering, this role will be an advocate for the engineer while interfacing with business teams to coordinate teams and programs to advance digital growth across Humana.

The Principal Solutions Architect translates business needs into technical systems solutions. Integrates hardware, software and network interfaces to form a system. Works with senior executives to develop and drive segment or enterprise-wide functional strategies. Advises one or more areas, programs or functions and provides recommendations to senior executives on matters of significance, and as an advanced subject matter expert competent to work at very high levels in multiple knowledge and functional areas across the enterprise.

  • Lead the development of a Platform ecosystem in fast track the digital transformation journey of Humana following current day industry best practices, and technologies.
    • Highly scalable, Portable, and resilient cloud infrastructure following Cloud Native and Cloud agnostic principles,
    • Establish the Automation and self-service for improved time to market and the developer experience by enforcing consistent cloud adoption and implementation strategies,
    • Establish reusable design patterns, solutions to expedite the adoption of enterprise governance like Privacy, Security, Compliance.
    • Establish unified intake and onboarding process to best leverage various approved technologies and patterns at Humana for more robust, and consistent implementations.
  • Lead the development, architecture, strategy and adoption of AI, ML and Gen AI related technologies to improve the member experience by building highly personalized, context aware digital experiences.
  • Lead the architecture center of practices across Sales, Marketing (MarTech) and Digital to enable and enforce consistent best solutions across all the touch points of a consumer.
  • Lead interaction with IT partners to ensure a clear, efficient approach to delivery, quality in all promoted work, scalable and well thought out approaches and front-end technologies that are appropriately implemented.
  • Lead the development, and Architecture of digital experiences using various technologies MACH Architecture principles.
    • front-end web solutions using HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Vue,js, Angular and React.js

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with vendors, agencies, internal partners, and team members and act as a Subject Matter Expert on the theories and principals behind usability and interface design.
  • Design, develop and maintain Humana's network and fully integrated applications systems to ensure the protection of highly confidential data that passes through them.
  • Build highly secured web and mobile experiences for various Humana enterprise web portals, which will be used by and protect consumers, employees, and external partners.
  • Design and architect an enterprise website search functionality using advanced Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques.
  • Ensure that all third-party library integrations on various Humana portals are meeting Humana standards in the areas of Security, Privacy, Performance and Accessibility, as well as Section 508 and ADA compliance.
  • Build a dependency management program to ensure that different web development libraries in use are not vulnerable, deprecated, and/or associated with unfavorable licensing agreements
  • Understands and advocates architecture principles and articulates value proposition of architecture to business and technology partners.
  • Ensures decisions around architecture are made in alignment with defined strategies and deviations from standards are accurately identified, addressed, and communicated.
  • Sets technology strategy to deliver on corporate objectives and expected outcomes.
  • Leads a team of architects designing and configuring the technical systems and application architecture across all platforms, systems, applications and hardware within the Healthcare Ecosystem.
  • Works with peers from other segments and Enterprise Architecture on development and execution of Enterprise IT Standards and frameworks.
  • Work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Make decisions around technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.
  • Influences enterprise strategy.
  • Develops and maintains technology roadmap in partnership with Business leaders to deliver desired outcomes.
  • Creates a team culture of inclusion, support, and curiosity that demonstrates the Humana values.

Role Essentials:

  • Broad technology experience across several of these areas including cloud architecture, digital marketing, NoSQL/SQL databases, event streaming, analytics, machine learning, networking, security, storage, DevSecOps, containers, server less, CI/CD, management and monitoring, cloud migrations, digital transformation.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of complex IT solutions (including scalable cloud-based solutions)
  • Experience with large enterprise level systems and managing data at scale.
  • Experience with multiple public cloud providers.
  • Experience architecting cloud native solutions or migrating on-prem solutions to cloud.
  • Candidate must be willing to switch the gears as needed to swing between different areas of Digital Channels based on the designated assignments and exigencies of duty.
  • Prior experience providing technical leadership to a team of Lead and Senior Architects.
  • Understands and can articulate common architectural patterns and design principles.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or 10+ years management in related IT field
  • 10 or more years of progressive information technology experience directly related to architecture/engineering, information security, or other specialized technology field
  • 5+ years of project/people leadership
  • 3-5 years of experience with Cloud Computing & certifications in Cloud Technologies
  • 5+ years of experience with platform implementation and transformation
  • Extremely strong technical foundation with a solid background in architectural patterns involving Digital Experience Strategy and ability to map technology concepts across various technology platforms
  • Experience in leading thru organizational change
  • Experience in development of large-scale systems for enterprise strategic initiatives
  • Strong communication skills for creating and sharing presentations to multiple levels of audiences of stakeholders - i.e. senior executives in business and IT, architects, developers, etc.
  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
  • Prior experience in development of software for enterprise applications and digital websites

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field (IT, MBA, etc.)
  • Cloud Solutions Architect certification(s) with major CSPs (Azure preferred)
  • Experience with web content and publishing services from Adobe and Akamai

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting.
