Job description


SAIC is seeking an experienced Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) with a strong background in front-end training analysis, training needs assessment (TNA), and curriculum design of high-impact learning solutions for complex technical systems.
This is a remote position supporting our TenCAP HOPE program, with some travel to AF bases
The ideal candidate excels at collecting, analyzing, and interpreting training analysis data, conducting root cause analysis and developing high-level design strategies for instructionally sound learning experiences. They must be comfortable collaborating with engineers, program managers, and subject-matter experts in fast-paced development environments. A background in training execution and analysis, knowledge of instructional design basics, and knowledge and/or experience of training in a military environment a plus.
Requirements:
  • Conduct a combination of Training Needs Assessment (TNA), Training Situation Analysis (TSA), and parts of a Training Systems Requirements Analysis (TSRA) in line with DOW guidance.
  • Analyze current training across the pipeline and deconstruct training tasks, media, and instructional strategies.
  • Develop data collection strategies, protocol, and tools.
  • Collect and validate job and training tasks to ensure alignment between training and job performance requirements.
  • Collect data from current and former students, instructors and receiving units using surveys, focus groups, and interviews.
  • Work closely with SMEs to gather and validate highly technical content and ensure accuracy across deliverables.
  • Conduct statistical data analysis.
  • Develop training analysis reports including descriptive data analysis and courses of action.
  • Design end-to-end instructional solutions for complex systems, including ILT, VILT, eLearning, blended learning, and performance support tools.
  • Conduct formative and summative evaluations of learning solutions; recommend enhancements based on data-driven insights.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's and six (6) years' experience; or relevant years of experience in lieu of degree
  • Demonstrated expertise with training needs analysis and job task analysis methodologies.
  • Strong command of ADDIE, adult learning theory, and performance-based design principles.
  • Experience in DoD/DoW Training.
  • Experience working with teams of diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities across multiple programs and meet deadlines in dynamic environments.
  • US Citizen and Secret Clearance

Desired:
  • Masters degree in ISD, I/O psychology, or HPT with training analysis experience.
  • 7+ years of experience designing training for complex technical or engineering-driven systems (e.g., aerospace, defense, avionics, cyber, or advanced manufacturing).
  • Experience conducting training analysis in the DoD, preferably Air Force.
  • Experience with Air Force air crew training processes.
  • Familiarity building competency models.
  • Experience using the ADDIE or AGILE training development methodology.
  • Experience designing and developing training in a military setting.
