PROJECT MANAGER - GRANT-FUNDED INITIATIVES (PART-TIME REMOTE)

Reporting to the Executive Director-Strategic Initiatives, the Project Manager-Grant Funded Initiatives (PT Exempt Remote) provides leadership and oversight for the day-to-day execution of a multi-year grant-funded initiative at the college. This position is responsible for managing project scope, schedule, budget, deliverables, and outcomes to ensure alignment with institutional priorities and grant objectives. 

The Project Manager exercises independent judgment and initiative in managing project operations, including setting priorities, allocating resources, making operational decisions, mitigating risk, and resolving issues to ensure successful achievement of project objectives and compliance with institutional and funding requirements. 

This is a fully remote position and is grant funded through September 30, 2028. All duties and responsibilities are expected to be performed virtually.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Direct and manage a complex, multi-year grant-funded initiative, providing overall leadership and accountability for managing project scope, schedule, budget, deliverables, and outcomes to ensure alignment with institutional priorities and grant objectives.

• Lead all phases of the project lifecycle, including project charter development, strategic planning, implementation, performance monitoring, risk mitigation, issue resolution, change management, and project closeout.

• Establish effective project governance structures, decision-making processes, and performance frameworks to ensure successful project execution, stakeholder engagement, and achievement of project goals.

• Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, timelines, workstreams, resource allocations, and performance measures, proactively identifying dependencies, constraints, and opportunities to optimize project performance.

• Serve as the primary liaison to executive leadership, grant sponsors, external partners, and cross-functional stakeholders, facilitating collaboration, influencing decision-making and ensuring alignment on project priorities and deliverables.

• Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and resource utilization to ensure compliance with grant requirements, institutional policies, and funding expectations.

• Establish and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs), success metrics, and project outcome measures to assess effectiveness, support strategic decision-making, and demonstrate project impact.

• Lead cross-functional teams by assigning responsibilities, monitoring progress, facilitating collaboration, and promoting accountability for project deliverables.

• Prepare and present executive-level reports, recommendations, and project status updates to senior leadership, funding agencies, and other key stakeholders.

• Analyze project outcomes and organizational impact, recommending process improvements, sustainability strategies, and opportunities to expand or replicate successful practices.

• Utilize project management methodologies, tools, and best practices to ensure efficient project execution, stakeholder engagement, and operational effectiveness in a fully remote environment.

• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, customer service excellence, accountability, and collaboration while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to City Colleges of Chicago policies and standards.

• Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university required

• Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience required, preferably in project management, program management, grant administration, or a related field. 

• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered at the discretion of management.

• Employees working remotely are responsible for providing a stable internet environment with a connection speed of at least 300 megabytes per second (Mbps).

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience managing grant-funded projects or complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, preferably within a higher education, government, or other complex organization.

• Knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and tools required.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, presentations and other communications for diverse audiences.

• Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing project needs. 

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fully remote work environment.

• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

Salary: $32,500 annually

Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as other factors such as internal equity.
