Job description

Who We Are

Atwell, LLC is a bold leader in the consulting, engineering, and construction services industry, delivering a broad range of creative solutions to clients in the real estate & land development, and energy markets. We have a strong national presence and a diverse, award-winning project portfolio. Atwell is a privately owned company, with 2,000+ passionate team members across 75+ locations and growing!

Atwell, LLC is a proud recipient of the following 2025 awards:

  • Ten consecutive years in a row as a "Best Place to Work" by Zweig Group (#11)
  • Recognized as #70 in the ENR Top 500 Design Firms, ranked in every region
  • Recognized in Crain's "Fast 50" as one of the fastest-growing companies (#14)
  • Recognized as the 2025 ENR Design Firm of the year for the Southeastern US

Job Description

Atwell is seeking a Land Solutions Project Manager to support a major energy utility client across a portfolio of land and right of way projects. In this role, you'll serve as a primary point of contact between Atwell and the client, owning project delivery from scoping through closeout while building a relationship that evolves with the client's long-term goals.

While this role is remote, proximity to Michigan is a strong advantage, as this role involves regular client engagement and field travel throughout the region.

You'll manage the full project lifecycle for energy utility land work — establishing scope, budgets, and schedules, negotiating and executing contracts, and ensuring all deliverables meet client expectations. You'll coordinate property acquisition activities including ROW easements, surface leases, rights of entry, damage settlements, and encroachment agreements in support of utility infrastructure projects. You'll assemble and direct project teams, manage sub-consultants, track milestones, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

On the business side, you'll identify growth opportunities within the client relationship, follow up on proposals, and contribute to Atwell's broader market presence in the energy sector. Internally, you'll maintain accurate project records in Vision, manage invoicing and A/R, and report financial performance to leadership. Mentoring junior team members is also a key part of this role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Land Planning, Land Surveying, or equivalent
  • 4+ years of project management experience in the energy industry, with a focus on property rights and easement acquisition
  • Hands-on experience supporting electric, gas, or energy utility clients on land and ROW programs
  • Expertise in land agreements and negotiations — ROW easements, surface leases, encroachment agreements, rights of entry, fee property, and damage settlements
  • Working knowledge of regulations governing right of way and other property rights
  • Experience with Vision as a project management tool
  • AAPL or SR/WA certification is a plus

Who Thrives Here

You're a client-focused, independent professional who knows how to navigate complex utility land programs with persistence and precision. You communicate clearly, manage competing priorities without losing sight of quality, and bring a collaborative mindset to everything you do. Travel within the region is expected and you're comfortable with it.
