First American will always strive to be a great place to work, for all.What We DoThe Senior Default Loan Servicing Specialist is responsible for managing complex foreclosure activities and serving as a subject matter expert within the Default Servicing team. This role oversees foreclosure actions with an emphasis on activities leading up to and including the foreclosure sales while ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, investor, insurer, agency, and company requirements. The Senior Specialist acts as an escalation resource for the team, supports productivity and performance initiatives, assists management with operational priorities, and provides guidance on complex or high-risk accounts.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Service mortgage accounts to ensure a variety of foreclosure and bankruptcy activities are processed in compliance with all state and federal laws while maintaining compliance with Investor, Insurer, Agency and company guidelines

  • Order, review and maintain loan documents to include signing of documents needed to proceed within the default processes

  • Conduct a complete review of files to ensure all default timeframes have been met

  • Manage default proceedings on assigned cases by interacting and instructing various parties such as mortgagors, attorneys, investors, insurers, trustees, appraisers and any other party involved with default

  • Monitor vendor performance by reviewing all proceedings, records and timeframes in addition to working all system/database activities throughout the default process

  • Audit accounts for expense compliance and ensures proper application to system of record

  • Performs required research on any loan with questionable items such as the application of payments, proper notification, and any other situation that may arise

  • Diligently follow up on all outstanding requests and telephone calls from internal and external partners

  • Manage exception reporting used as key controls for minimizing risk

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Knowledge and Skills/Technology Used

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or combination of education and experience

  • 3 + years of directly related experience such as Mortgage Foreclosure, Bankruptcy, and/or Legal

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to adhere to strict guidelines and procedures

  • GSE and Government experience preferred

  • MSP and LoanSphere experience preferred

  • Working knowledge of computer software programs to include Windows, Microsoft Word and Excel, Internet and Microsoft Outlook experience preferred

  • Working knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of foreclosure

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary internal and external customer service

  • Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
