• Conduct thorough client assessments, utilizing standardized tools and evidence-based methods to gather comprehensive information and create personalized treatment plans tailored to individual needs.
• Provide therapeutic services to clients via video conferencing or phone sessions, employing a variety of therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed care.
• Engage collaboratively with clients to set measurable mental health goals, regularly evaluating progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure ongoing effectiveness.
• Maintain secure and detailed client records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and ethical standards, ensuring that all documentation is accurately and timely completed to contribute to a streamlined treatment process.
• Stay current with best practices in the mental health field and contribute to team discussions regarding new evidence-based methods and interventions. Regular participation in training and workshops is encouraged.

As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Friendship House Counseling, you will work with a diverse client population, including individuals and families facing issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship challenges. This role demands sensitivity and adaptability as you approach clients from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, ensuring that each client feels understood and valued. Your work will directly contribute to improved mental health outcomes and the overall well-being of our community.

• A Master’s degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related field, demonstrating a strong foundational knowledge of mental health principles.
• An active Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) license in the state of Vermont, ensuring compliance with all state regulations for practicing counselors.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients while effectively managing sensitive discussions.
• Experience working with clients from varied backgrounds and with diverse mental health issues.
• Capacity to demonstrate empathy and active listening, fostering a safe and supportive counseling environment.

• A minimum of two years of direct clinical experience working in mental health counseling, preferably in a telehealth or remote setting.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth platforms, allowing for efficient documentation and client interactions.
• Experience with systems of care and knowledge of community resources that can enhance client support.
