What is remote live sports production?

Remote live sports production refers to the process of producing and broadcasting live sporting events from a location separate from the actual venue. This is achieved by using advanced technologies to transmit video, audio, and data feeds to a central production hub, where directors, producers, and technical staff manage the live broadcast. Remote production helps reduce costs, minimize travel, and increase efficiency while maintaining high broadcast quality. It's increasingly popular for both large-scale and smaller events, especially as technology continues to improve.

What are some common challenges faced in remote live sports production, and how can I prepare for them?

Remote live sports production often involves coordinating with teams across various locations, managing real-time technical issues, and adapting quickly to unexpected changes during live broadcasts. You may encounter challenges such as variable internet connectivity, tight production timelines, and the need for seamless communication with on-site and remote crew members. To prepare, it's helpful to develop strong problem-solving skills, familiarize yourself with remote production technology, and practice clear, proactive communication within virtual teams.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in Remote Live Sports Production, and why are they important?

Success in Remote Live Sports Production requires expertise in broadcast production, video editing, and live event coordination, often supported by a degree in communications or a related field. Familiarity with live streaming platforms, broadcast software (like vMix, OBS, or Wirecast), and networking systems is typical, along with certifications such as SBE or AVIXA being advantageous. Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and the ability to stay calm under pressure are essential soft skills for managing live events remotely. These skills ensure seamless, high-quality broadcasts and effective collaboration with on-site and remote teams during fast-paced sports events.

Job description

FloSports is the leading digital platform for underserved sports, combining live and on-demand streaming, original programming, data, and technology to help sports grow their audiences and build sustainable businesses, from youth to professional levels. By bringing thousands of events and communities onto one platform, Flo creates scale where none previously existed, connecting passionate fans with the sports they love while giving athletes, organizers, and rights holders the tools to reach and engage a global audience.
Flo streams more than 50,000 live events annually across sports, including motorsports, wrestling, hockey, track & field, cheer, jiu-jitsu, NCAA Division II and III athletics, and more. We're looking for people who are passionate about sports, embody accountability, collaboration, curiosity, positivity, grit, and excellence, and are motivated to help grow and elevate the communities we serve.
THE ROLE:
FloCollege is the authentic home for small school college athletics, delivering live events, highlights, and storytelling that help grow our sports every day.
As we expand our content footprint, we are seeking three Regional Social Media Contractors (East, South, Midwest/West) to drive weekly content creation and real-time coverage across our platforms.
This role is ideal for a fast, creative social media professional who thrives in live environments, understands how to capture moments as they happen, and can translate live competition into engaging, platform-native content that drives audience growth and monetization.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create weekly content across your assigned region, including stat graphics, short-form video, written posts, and storytelling features
  • Execute real-time social media coverage during live events, with a strong emphasis on nights, weekends, and high-volume competition windows
  • Support multi-team and championship-style events through pre-event buildup, live posting, and post-event recaps
  • Produce and publish platform-native content for Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, and YouTube (posts, clips, Stories, Reels, Shorts, etc.)
  • Collaborate with FloCollege editorial and video teams to align social coverage with broader programming and content strategies
  • Optimize content for each platform to maximize engagement, reach, and traffic
  • Support organic monetization and syndication goals through social execution, event awareness, and audience growth
  • Edit and publish short-form video quickly and efficiently during live events
  • Monitor and engage with the FloCollege community in real time (comments, messages, mentions)
  • Track and analyze performance metrics to inform content decisions and improve future coverage
  • Build and maintain relationships with athletes, teams, and influencers across your region
  • Travel to select campuses and events for on-site coverage and content creation

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Proven experience managing or contributing to social media accounts, preferably in sports or live-event environments
  • Strong understanding of platform best practices, trends, and algorithms-especially for live and short-form content
  • Experience with content creation tools, including graphic design and video editing (e.g., Adobe Suite, CapCut, Canva, etc.)
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and extended hours aligned with the live sports calendar
  • Strong writing skills with a clear sense of voice, tone, and storytelling
  • Ability to edit and publish video quickly under tight deadlines
  • Analytical mindset with experience using performance data to guide content strategy
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently in fast-paced environments
  • Knowledge of college athletics (softball, baseball, basketball, football, etc.) strongly preferred

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
  • Remote (U.S.-based preferred; regional travel required)
  • Contract Duration - 12 months
