Baer is looking for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Architect for a 5 month remote project
Title: Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Architect
Location: Remote (Must be based in US)
Duration: 5 months
Rate: Hourly Plus Expenses Reimbursed
Alignment: W2 or C2C
Overview:
Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of a secure, scalable, and high-performance Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment supporting both Linux and Windows platforms. Provide architectural guidance, define best practices, and ensure reliable, optimized virtual desktop services that meet business and technical requirement
Description:
  • Design end-to-end Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions for Linux and Windows environments.
  • Lead the installation, configuration, and optimization of secure, scalable, and high-performance VDI platforms.
  • Advise stakeholders on VDI architecture, technology selection, and infrastructure best practices.
  • Ensure the VDI environment meets security, performance, availability, and scalability requirements.
  • Monitor, maintain, and continuously improve the VDI platform to enhance reliability and user experience.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, networking, and application teams during design, implementation, and ongoing support.
  • Develop architecture standards, technical documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Troubleshoot complex VDI issues and provide technical leadership for performance tuning and capacity planning.

Requirements:
  • Experience in IT infrastructure, including designing and implementing enterprise VDI solutions.
  • Strong expertise with Windows and Linux virtual desktop environments.
  • Experience with enterprise VDI platforms such as VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop.
  • Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies, storage, networking, identity management, and security.
  • Experience with performance optimization, capacity planning, and high-availability architectures.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree
