About this PositionSubject matter expert with installation, configuration, and maintenance of the organization's computer systems and associated peripheral equipment. Maintain operating efficiency and stability, ensure the security and integrity of all systems and data, and respond to outages and other issues. Perform application administration activities such as creating, modifying, and deleting users, optimizing remote access, and security access applications. Responsibilities & Qualifications

What You'll Do:

  • Design, deploy, and manage cloud-based infrastructure in AWS to support business applications and services.
  • Utilize performance metrics and monitoring tools to optimize infrastructure performance and cost efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and infrastructure as code (IaC) templates.
  • Ensure the security, reliability, and availability of cloud environments, implementing best practices and compliance standards.
  • Implement and manage backup, restore and disaster recovery strategies for cloud infrastructure and applications to ensure business continuity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and provide cloud solutions to meet their needs.
  • Create documentation and runbooks to accelerate adoption of cloud services to other engineering and platform teams.
  • Stay up to date with the latest AWS technologies and industry trends, providing insights and recommendations for improvements.
  • Implement best practices for cloud security, identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and compliance.
  • Work closely with DevOps and software engineering teams to integrate cloud infrastructure into application development and deployment processes, focusing on cloud-native microservices and serverless architecture.
  • Lead small to medium scale projects and initiatives, planning effectively and ensuring successful execution.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to cloud infrastructure, networking and application deployment.
  • Mentor junior engineers, sharing AWS knowledge and best practices.
  • Provide exceptional service to internal customers, leveraging Texas Mutual's cloud assets effectively.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education, training, or experience. Preferred fields include computer science, MIS, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum of 7 years of IT experience with at least 5 years of hands-on, direct work experience in AWS and cloud infrastructure engineering. Experience with Azure and/or GCP is advantageous.
  • Prior Linux system administration experience strongly desired..
  • Proven expertise in AWS services, including but not limited to EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, VPC, ECS, EKS, Fargate, and CloudWatch. AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate) are a MAJOR plus!
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, and Ansible. Certification(s) are a bonus.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, security best practices, and cloud architecture.
  • Solid understanding of cloud security principles, best practices and compliance frameworks (e.g. SOC 2, NIST, GPDR).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Familiarity with working with Git/GitOps and working with an integrated developer environment (IDE) such as Visual Studio Code.
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across teams and projects.
  • Familiarity with programming and scripting languages such as Python, C#, bash, PowerShell and Golang.
  • Experience with cloud security best practices and their application to specific AWS services such as IAM, CloudWatch, GuardDuty, and Identity Center.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

The base pay range is based on the market evaluation of the job and may include pay for multiple levels. Individual base pay within the range is determined by a variety of factors, including experience, performance, education, and demonstration of skills and competencies required for each role.Your recruiter can discuss the full value of our total compensation package with you, including our generous bonus plans and flex-hybrid work model.

Base Pay Range: $136,408.00 - $168,504.00 Per YearFlex-Hybrid Work Environment:
