As a Senior Remote Upgrade Engineer within Baxter Care Communications, you'll help healthcare organizations maintain and modernize the communication systems that support patient care. This is where your technical expertise directly impacts system reliability, clinical workflows, and customer success.

In this role, you'll assess existing customer environments, execute complex software and infrastructure upgrades, and ensure Baxter Care Communications solutions continue to operate securely and effectively. Your work will support healthcare facilities as they adopt new technologies, enhance performance, and maximize the value of their Baxter investments.

Your Team

The Care Communications team delivers clinical communication, workflow automation, and mobile communication solutions to healthcare organizations. The team partners closely with Product Development, Technical Support, Services, and customer IT departments to deploy and maintain solutions that enable effective communication across healthcare environments.

What You'll Do

  • Assess existing Care Communications deployments and develop upgrade plans based on software, hardware, network, and integration requirements.
  • Execute upgrades across Windows and Linux-based platforms, application servers, databases, and proprietary Baxter hardware.
  • Configure and validate networking components including TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, wireless technologies, and security controls.
  • Support technical integrations involving customer infrastructure, middleware, clinical systems, and third-party applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues involving operating systems, databases, networks, applications, and connected devices.
  • Perform system verification and testing activities to confirm performance, reliability, and functionality following upgrades.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, upgrade procedures, and deployment standards.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives that increase upgrade quality, efficiency, and consistency.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or 4+ years of equivalent experience in software, systems administration, or networking.
  • Experience deploying, upgrading, and supporting Microsoft Windows Server environments, SQL Server, IIS, and associated enterprise systems.
  • Experience deploying, configuring, and supporting Linux-based environments, including Kubernetes platforms.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, IP routing, switching, VLANs, OSI model, client-server architecture, and network security.
  • Experience configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting Windows and Linux operating systems in production environments.
  • Experience in at least two of the following technical areas:
    • SQL, scripting, reporting tools, or analytics platforms
    • Networking (routing, switching, security)
    • Enterprise hardware, storage, or server infrastructure
    • Middleware platforms
    • HL7 integrations
    • Microsoft Windows
    • Linux and Kubernetes
    • Enterprise wireless networking
  • Knowledge of Wi-Fi technologies and related security protocols.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $80,000 - $110,000. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
