Title: Staff Accountant

Company Profile: Virtual Accounting Firm

Remote: 100% Remote Position - Must be based in the U.S.

Compensation: Up to $75k base + performance-based bonus, PTO, and benefits

About Us

We’re a boutique, privately owned virtual accounting firm based in Texas dedicated to helping small business owners and high-income individuals navigate their accounting and tax needs with confidence. With a fully remote team and a strong focus on technology and efficiency, we’ve created an environment where people can do meaningful work while having the flexibility of a remote-first culture.

We’re currently entering an exciting phase of growth, expanding from approximately 160 to 250+ clients while intentionally building the systems and infrastructure needed to support that growth. Our team is looking for someone who wants to grow alongside the business and have a real impact—not someone who simply wants to check boxes. If you enjoy solving problems, working directly with clients, improving processes, and taking ownership of your work, this is an opportunity to build something with us.

Why Work with Us

  • Join a team that is intentionally building its infrastructure and creating opportunities for employees to grow alongside the firm.
  • Work directly with small business owners and high-income individuals, gaining experience beyond traditional back-office accounting.
  • Take increasing responsibility for your clients and work, with the opportunity to grow into managing client relationships and engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform full-cycle accounting for multiple clients, including transaction categorization, reconciliations, journal entries, and monthly or quarterly close procedures.
  • Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
  • Prepare accurate financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Review general ledger activity and research unusual or inaccurate balances.
  • Assist with payroll reconciliations and other accounting-related compliance matters.
  • Communicate with clients to obtain information, resolve questions, and provide updates.
  • Develop the ability to explain financial results and participate in client review meetings.
  • Identify trends, potential issues, and opportunities within client financial statements.
  • Maintain organized documentation and accounting workpapers.
  • Manage multiple client deadlines and assignments.
  • Use accounting software and technology to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Stay current on relevant accounting standards and regulations.

What We Are Looking For

  • Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 1+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred.
  • Public accounting experience is helpful but not required.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop preferred.
  • Understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and take increasing ownership of client work.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

What We Can Offer

  • Established 100% remote team
  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Performance-based bonuses
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off
  • Training and opportunities for professional growth
  • Clear path toward managing client relationships and engagements
