This position operates in a fully remote setting, leveraging telehealth technology to reach students effectively. The successful candidate will become part of a collaborative and innovative team of professionals who share a common mission of promoting mental well-being. While working from home, you will have the flexibility to manage your schedule and engage with students in a meaningful way, ensuring they receive the support they need.

Key Responsibilities

As a University Mental Health Counselor, you will:

  • Conduct thorough intake assessments and screenings to evaluate students' mental health needs, identifying appropriate treatment paths.
  • Provide short-term individual counseling and crisis intervention for students facing various issues, from academic stress to personal crises.
  • Facilitate therapeutic group sessions and workshops on pertinent topics like anxiety management, coping strategies, and resilience building.
  • Collaborate with campus partners, including faculty, academic advisors, and student organizations, to deliver holistic support and foster a culture of mental wellness.
  • Engage in outreach initiatives and mental health awareness campaigns, effectively educating students about available resources and promoting proactive well-being strategies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in patient records, complying with all ethical and legal standards in mental health practice.
Patient Population / Client Focus

This role primarily focuses on college students who are navigating the unique challenges of higher education. As a counselor, you will work closely with individuals from diverse backgrounds, addressing a wide range of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and adjustment disorders. Your expertise will make a significant impact on their academic performance and personal growth.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must:

  • Hold an active and valid license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or as a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD).
  • Possess at least a bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related discipline, with a preference for candidates holding a master’s degree or higher.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the mental health issues and pressures faced by college students.
  • Showcase excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively connect with a diverse student population and collaborate with campus entities.
Preferred Experience

While a minimum of two years of relevant experience is required, candidates with additional experience in university mental health counseling, group therapy facilitation, or crisis intervention will be highly regarded. Familiarity with evidence-based practices and brief therapy models suited for a university setting is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

In recognition of your expertise and contribution, we offer a competitive salary range of USD 60,000 to 75,000 annually, commensurate with your experience and qualifications. Our comprehensive benefits package includes:

  • Health insurance options to support your personal well-being.
  • A retirement savings plan with company matching to help you prepare for the future.
  • Generous paid time off and holiday allowances to ensure a healthy work-life balance.
  • Opportunities for professional development and continuing education, fostering your growth in the field.
  • A supportive and vibrant work culture with a strong commitment to collaborative success.
  • Access to university resources, including libraries and recreational facilities, enhancing your work-life experience.
