Remote Library Graphic Design information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Library Graphic Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Library Graphic Designer, you need strong graphic design skills, proficiency in visual communication, and typically a degree in graphic design or a related field. Familiarity with industry-standard tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and digital asset management systems is essential. Creativity, attention to detail, and effective remote collaboration skills help you stand out in this role. These skills ensure the creation of engaging library materials and consistent branding, even when working independently from a distance.

How does a Remote Library Graphic Designer typically collaborate with librarians and other team members to ensure design projects meet institutional needs?

As a Remote Library Graphic Designer, you will often communicate closely with librarians, marketing staff, and IT teams through virtual meetings, project management tools, and email. You'll discuss project requirements, gather feedback, and ensure your designs align with the library's branding and accessibility standards. Collaboration is essential for creating materials such as event posters, digital graphics, and informational brochures that effectively engage the library's diverse audience. Despite working remotely, strong communication skills and responsiveness are key to overcoming the challenge of not being onsite and ensuring successful project outcomes.

Is AI going to replace librarians?

AI is unlikely to replace librarians, including those in remote library roles, as their work involves complex tasks like community engagement, curation, and personalized assistance that require human judgment. AI tools can support librarians by automating routine tasks and enhancing information management, but human expertise remains essential for providing contextually relevant services and maintaining ethical standards.

What is the highest paid graphic design job?

Senior roles such as Creative Director or Art Director in graphic design tend to have the highest salaries, often exceeding six figures annually, especially in large corporations or advertising agencies. These positions require extensive experience, leadership skills, and proficiency with design tools like Adobe Creative Suite.

Is librarian a low stress job?

A librarian role, including remote library graphic design, is generally considered low to moderate stress, as it involves organizing information, assisting users, and managing collections or digital content. Stress levels can vary based on workload, deadlines, and organizational environment, but the job typically offers predictable hours and a quiet work setting. Skills in organization, communication, and familiarity with library or design software can contribute to a smoother experience.

Job description

About the role

We're actively evolving the Underdog brand, and we need a designer who can help bring it to life. As our Senior Graphic Designer, you'll be the hands and craft behind our visual identity - someone who can make our brand feel thrilling and alive across every channel, and who knows how to flip between a high-impact campaign and scrappy, UGC-style content without missing a beat. This is a high-ownership execution role at the center of a brand with real momentum.

  • Bring the Underdog brand to life - translate evolving brand direction into executions that feel exciting, energetic, and unmistakably Underdog across social, paid, email, CRM, partnerships, and product touchpoints.
  • Lead campaign design end-to-end - take projects from brief through delivery, owning the craft and pushing the visual bar at every stage.
  • Flex across styles - move confidently between high-production campaign design and scrappy, UGC-native content that feels authentic and in-the-moment.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing and Product teams to bring personality, narrative, and visual consistency to creative assets across all channels.
  • Upload assets to Frontify and ensure our brand library stays current and accurate for internal and external use.
  • Bring a point of view - contribute ideas proactively and push work forward without needing to be pointed in a direction.
Who you are
  • 5-8 years of in-house or agency graphic design experience, with a portfolio that shows range - campaigns, social, digital, branding - and a clear, confident visual sensibility.
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Photoshop and Illustrator; you're fast, decisive, and know how to adapt without losing your edge.
  • You can make something feel thrilling - you understand what stops a scroll, creates excitement, and makes a brand stick.
  • Equally comfortable doing scrappy, culturally-tuned UGC-style work as you are executing a fully produced campaign.
  • You balance your own creative instincts with brand guidelines - you can work within a system and know when to push it.
  • You're a self-starter - you don't wait to be told what the next step is, you see it and you take it.
  • You use AI tools daily and think critically about how to apply them - you're always looking for ways to move faster and do more without compromising the work.
  • You have a point of view on copy and aren't afraid to write it - you understand how words and visuals work together and can craft headlines, captions, and short-form copy that land.
  • You manage multiple projects simultaneously, hit deadlines, and don't need hand-holding to figure out what's next.
Even better if you have
  • Illustration, branding, or logo design experience.
  • Motion or animation skills - our brand lives in video-first environments.
  • Experience working within or alongside a rebranding effort.

Our target starting base salary range for this position is between $94,000 and $110,000, plus target equity. The starting base salary will depend on a number of factors including the candidate's skills and experience, among other things.

What we can offer you
  • Unlimited PTO (we're extremely flexible with the exception of the first few weeks before & into the NFL season)
  • 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave
  • Home office stipend
  • A connected virtual first culture with a highly engaged distributed workforce
  • 5% 401k match, FSA, company paid health, dental, vision plan options for employees and dependents
