Position Overview:

The Senior Director, Large Format Channel is responsible for delivering Net Sales and Operating Profit results across our largest format retail partners, with direct ownership of the Target and Kroger businesses. This role serves as the strategic thought leader for the channelsetting strategy in conjunction with executive leadership, aligning 1440 Foods category and brand objectives with each customer's marketing and merchandising strategies, and driving execution through direct broker management. The position carries full P&L ownership and is accountable for achieving the Annual Operating Plan, inclusive of Sales, Profit, ACV, and Share. The role also leads the channel's broker agency relationships, ensuring effective coverage, engagement, and performance across the enterprise.

Job Responsibilities:

Channel Strategy & Growth

  • Own and deliver financial results for the Large Format Channel, aligning 1440 Foods brand strategies with the Target and Kroger enterprises.
  • Develop and implement strategic joint business plans with key customers via a growth mindset, influencing customer category strategy, assortment, pricing, promotion, and shelf placement.
  • Identify and lead retailer solutions for base business and innovation sell-in through the integration of consumer, shopper, marketplace, and business insights.
  • Represent and support the company in channel trade shows, events, and conferences where applicable.

Account Management

  • Build and maintain effective customer relationships throughout the Target and Kroger enterprises, including their functional departments.
  • Lead the customer planning process, including fiscally responsible trade planning that drives trade effectiveness, efficiency, and return on investment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partnerscategory management, customer service, marketing, supply chain, and financeto deliver company revenue and profit goals.
  • Develop and execute custom co-marketing programs aligned with each customer's shopper activation strategy.
  • Ensure timely execution of back-end support functions (trade deduction management, price discrepancies, customer payments) with the support of broker partners.

Sales Excellence & Insights

  • Lead the comprehensive sales cycle process for assigned accounts, serving as the key point of contact for the outline and build of best-in-class selling materials.
  • Lead routine and ad-hoc business and customer analyses (brand performance, competitive analysis, consumer and shopper tracking, shipments) incorporating varied data sources (POS, panel, syndicated data).
  • Leverage category and industry insights to align with retailer strategies and close core distribution voids throughout the channel.
  • Develop and execute best-in-class promotional and display strategies to deliver topline growth while maximizing ROI; support quarterly promotion ROI analysis.
  • Collaborate with broker partners to forecast sales volume and trade spend monthly, improving forecast accuracy; manage and optimize trade spend in line with budget.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to provide impactful routine and ad-hoc sales, customer, and competitive communications to executive leadership.

Leadership & Broker Management

  • Serve as channel team lead: establish, monitor, and course-correct strategic sales and agency priorities.
  • Directly manage broker agency partnersincluding onboarding of new brokersto execute the strategic vision and ensure excellent customer service.
  • Build rapport with broker partners and maintain a proper cadence of connectivity to effectively manage customers downstream.
  • Manage outside vendors and agencies for maximum engagement, support, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Lead, train, monitor performance, and develop the skills, competencies, and capabilities of direct reports.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum 810 years of related customer development or sales experience with a CPG company.
  • Experience managing Target and/or Kroger at the headquarter level strongly preferred.
  • Broker management experience required.
  • Strong understanding of P&L dynamics, trade budget management, and forecasting systems.
  • Strong understanding of category management and shopper insights practices and principles.
  • Experience with market intelligence and syndicated data systems (IRI/Circana, Nielsen, POS, household panel, PowerBI).
  • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to define and build compelling sell-in materials.
  • Demonstrated analytical, collaborative, and consultative abilities; effective in a highly dynamic, ever-changing marketplace.
  • Results-driven mindset with a focus on meeting and exceeding sales goals.
  • Ability to travel approximately 40-50% of the time.
