Job description

Senior Electrical Energy Engineer

The Opportunity

CEG Solutions is hiring a Senior Electrical Energy Engineer to lead the electrical design of our consulting and design-build projects for the built environment. This role shapes how CEG delivers large-scale, life-cycle-cost-focused transformations that create energy sustainability, efficiency, and resilience - from renewable energy generation and battery energy storage to microgrids and central plant renovations.

You'll be a technical anchor on a multidisciplinary team, developing solutions customized to each client's needs and carrying them through the concept, design and construction delivery stages. Our projects revamp cooling, heating, and power infrastructure for hospitals, data centers, and other mission-critical facilities where reliability and performance genuinely matter.

If you're a driven, technically skilled engineer with an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for sustainable energy, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact on energy innovation across the United States.

Why This Role Is Different

Impactful projects: From microgrids and battery energy storage to central plant upgrades, your designs will directly shape the future of energy infrastructure for mission-critical clients.

Technical ownership: You'll apply your expertise across state-of-the-art electrical designs - renewable energy, energy storage, microgrids, and more - with real influence over project outcomes.

Innovative, collaborative culture: A non-hierarchical, inclusive environment where creativity is encouraged and every team member's voice is heard.

Growth and development: Contribute to critical projects and grow your skills alongside an experienced team of energy engineers.

Flexibility: A remote, work-from-home setup with collaboration across all U.S. time zones.

What You'll Do

1) Design and Deliver Electrical Solutions

Design and support the delivery of electrical solutions for major infrastructure, including MEP system modernizations, central plant upgrades, on-site energy generation, energy efficiency initiatives, and resiliency improvements.

Support the technical development of new market opportunities, focusing on renewable energy, photovoltaics (PV), energy storage systems (BESS), and microgrids.

Support the life-cycle costing of technical concepts by providing and assisting with internal construction cost estimates.

2) Drive Quality and Coordination

Oversee and direct third-party consultants to achieve high-quality construction documents.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate design, construction, and operational strategies for energy projects.

Contribute to the successful development and implementation of energy solutions, including risk mitigation and cost management.

3) Mentor and Grow the Team

Contribute technical guidance to engineering team members.

Share knowledge with junior engineers and designers, supporting their growth in design principles, technical skills, and project execution - we are committed to developing the next generation of engineers.

Ideal Candidate / Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. PE license strongly preferred, or the ability to obtain one within 12 months of hire (EIT/FE acceptable; advanced degree a plus).

5-10 years of experience in electrical engineering and energy systems, including renewable energy, microgrids, electrical distribution, and lighting.

Strong understanding of National Electric Code (NEC) and building codes.

Experience with energy efficiency design engineering, including technical analysis and writing.

A passion for energy efficiency, alternative energy, and sustainability.

Bonus Points for:

Experience with energy as a service or energy performance contract projects.

In-depth knowledge of the financial, technical, and political landscape of the energy industry.

If you're looking for a challenging and rewarding role where you can contribute to sustainable energy solutions, work on innovative projects, and collaborate with like-minded professionals, we'd love to hear from you!
