Position Summary
Bridge Brothers is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead the structural design and execution of custom steel bridge projects from concept through fabrication support.
We are open to experienced engineers from industrial, heavy manufacturing, or other structural steel backgrounds who are interested in applying their skills to bridge design. Prior bridge experience is preferred, not required, for candidates with strong structural fundamentals and steel design expertise.
This role is based in Greenville, SC, with flexibility for remote work. No travel is required.
Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering Leadership amp; Design
Lead structural design efforts from initial submittal through final approval and fabrication support
Design steel structures, superstructures, and foundations using applied loads and site data
Perform and review structural calculations, design packages, and engineering reports
Apply and interpret applicable codes and standards, including AASHTO, AISC, ACI, ASCE, DOT, ADM, and IBC
Maintain and continuously improve internal engineering standards, design practices, and procedures
Project Execution amp; Coordination
Serve as the technical lead across engineering, detailing, and fabrication teams
Review and release shop drawings, submittals, and letters of conformance
Coordinate closely with drafting and detailing teams to ensure drawings reflect design intent and constructability
Support fabrication and field teams remotely to resolve engineering questions
Communicate with owners, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure technical alignment and compliance
Team Support amp; Continuous Improvement
Provide technical oversight and mentorship to project engineers and designers
Support sales and estimating teams with technical input during pursuit and pre-construction phases
Manage engineering deliverables, schedules, and priorities across multiple concurrent projects
Identify opportunities to improve engineering workflows, documentation, and cross-team coordination
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (required)
5+ years of structural engineering experience in bridges, industrial structures, heavy manufacturing, energy, or complex steel systems
Strong fundamentals in structural analysis and steel design
Familiarity with AASHTO standards or industrial / building code frameworks (AISC, ASCE, IBC)
Experience coordinating with fabrication, detailing, and construction teams
Ability to lead projects and make sound engineering decisions
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Workspace
Strong ability to read, interpret, and produce structural and fabrication drawings
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required
Work Environment amp; Physical Requirements
Primarily office or remote-based work environment
Occasional interaction with fabrication teams as needed
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs if visiting shop environments
PPE provided if entering fabrication areas
