Job description

Position Title: Junior MBSE Modeler

Location: Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL

Shift: Day shift

Travel Required: Up to 10% of the time

Description of Duties:

The Junior MBSE Modeler supports the system requirements, design, analysis, verification, and validation activities for Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) systems for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. Working under the guidance of senior engineers and cyber warfare officers, this role is critical to building and sustaining the authoritative source of truth for DCO system architectures. The Junior MBSE Modeler leverages digital engineering principles to create, manage, and maintain digital models that support the secure implementation of the Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN) and active/passive cyberspace defense operations.

Digital Modeling & Architecture:

  • Assist in the formalized application of modeling to support the conceptual design and development of DCO systems [DoDI 5000.97, "Digital Engineering," December 21, 2023](gs://genai-mil-gemini-docs/DoDI 5000.97.pdf).
  • Develop and maintain SysML (or similar) models depicting system structure, behavior, and requirements.

Artifact Generation:

  • Dynamically generate digital artifacts directly from digital models to visualize and communicate system design to stakeholders.
    • Examples include data flow diagrams, design specifications, and interface management documents [DoDI 5000.97, "Digital Engineering," December 21, 2023](gs://genai-mil-gemini-docs/DoDI 5000.97.pdf).

Requirements Traceability:

  • Assist in translating operational cyber defense requirements into architectural and technical solutions.
  • Ensure that models provide traceability as the system evolves throughout the system life cycle.

DCO Integration:

  • Collaborate with Defensive Cyberspace Warfare Officers and network defenders to accurately map and model cyber threats, operational networks, and cyberspace defense mechanisms da-pam-600-3-cyber-branch-fy25.

Configuration Management:

  • Participate in the configuration management of models to ensure version control and the integrity of the digital engineering ecosystem.

The successful candidate will:

Basic Requirements:

  • Must have 4, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience
    • May be reduced with completion of advanced education
  • Must have 2, or more, years of directly related professional or academic experience in systems engineering, systems architecture, or software development.
  • Must be familiar with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts, methodologies, and frameworks.
  • Must have a basic proficiency in modeling languages such as Systems Modeling Language (SysML) or Unified Modeling Language (UML).
  • Must have introductory experience with standard MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, Sparx Enterprise Architect, or IBM Rhapsody).
  • Must have an understanding of basic cyberspace operations, network architecture, and defensive cybersecurity principles.
  • Must have an active DoW Secret Security Clearance

Desired Requirements:

  • Have a bachelor's degree, or higher, in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • Have 1, or more, relevant certifications in Systems Engineering (e.g., INCOSE ASEP) or Cybersecurity (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP).

Compensation Details:

$110,000 - $120,000
