Job description

What we are looking for

AscellaHealth is seeking a senior-level Cloud Solutions Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and ongoing optimization of secure, scalable, and highly available cloud solutions on Azure. This role is responsible for the full lifecycle of cloud engineering initiatives, from requirements gathering and technical design through infrastructure provisioning, deployment, post-launch stabilization, and performance optimization.

The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on engineering expertise with architectural leadership and can build modern cloud-native platforms using microservices, containers (Docker/Kubernetes), and serverless technologies. They will own core cloud capabilities, including networking (VPC/VNet, subnets, VPNs, load balancers), IAM/security controls, observability, monitoring, and alerting, while ensuring solutions align with best practices for reliability, security, and compliance.

This individual will collaborate closely with cross-functional delivery teams, support smooth production releases, troubleshoot complex issues across infrastructure/network/application layers, and provide mentorship to junior engineers. They will also review architecture, code, and infrastructure changes to maintain engineering standards and drive long-term platform maturity.

This is a hybrid role based at our AscellaHealth headquarters in Berwyn, PA. We are open to more remote flexibility for the right person.

What the position will be doing

  • Design, build, and maintain cloud-native architectures on Azure
  • Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of cloud solutions: requirements gathering, technical design, infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and optimization
  • Design and build highly available, scalable, and secure systems using cloud-native technologies
  • Implement and manage networking, IAM, and security controls, and logging/monitoring/alerting technologies
  • Act as a senior technical authority within project teams
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and cross-functional delivery teams
  • Review architecture designs, code, and infrastructure for best practices, security, compliance, performance, and reliability
  • Lead implementation and rollout of new platforms and systems
  • Partner with delivery teams to ensure smooth production releases and system stability post-launch
  • Troubleshoot complex system issues across infrastructure, networking, and application layers
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or as necessary; remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments as defined by departmental and organizational needs.

Necessary Skills, Education & Abilities

  • 7+ years of experience in cloud engineering or cloud architecture
  • Strong expertise in at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • Solid experience with infra as code, CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins), containers, and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, security best practices, and identity and access management
  • Experience designing and deploying enterprise-grade systems and highly available production environments
  • Working knowledge of Linux systems, Scripting, REST APIs, and general system integrations
  • Familiarity with observability tools to implement monitoring and logging strategies
  • Relentless attention to detail, and the ability to be a creative self-starter and team player.
  • Passionate and curious person who looks to learn continuously and embraces the adoption of new technologies that impact business, markets, and user experiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team setting effectively.
  • Ability to thrive in an environment with constantly changing and potentially competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills will be required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
