Job description

Are you an experienced commercial underwriter who enjoys the technical side of the business but may be ready to step away from constant broker meetings, production goals, and account-by-account responsibilities?

King’s Insurance Staffing is partnering with a well-established national P&C insurance carrier seeking a senior underwriting professional for a highly visible corporate role. This position will use broad commercial underwriting expertise to help strengthen underwriting quality, governance, and risk discipline across multiple business divisions.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has built a career in production underwriting and wants to influence underwriting strategy at the enterprise level. It could also be a natural fit for a home-office underwriting professional with experience involving underwriting authorities, guidelines, quality reviews, audit, product oversight, or governance.

Candidates currently working at the Senior Manager, Director, AVP, Underwriting Officer, or senior individual-contributor level are encouraged to apply. Professional designations such as CPCU, AU, or ARM are beneficial but not mandatory.

What you’ll influence:

  • Corporate underwriting quality and review standards
  • Underwriting guidelines, authorities, referrals, and exceptions
  • Consistency of underwriting practices across multiple divisions
  • Portfolio-level risk trends and areas of emerging exposure
  • Underwriting reporting, controls, and operational efficiencies
  • Collaboration between underwriting leadership, business executives, and enterprise risk teams

What we’re looking for:

  • Approximately 10+ years of commercial P&C underwriting experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of commercial underwriting principles and risk selection
  • Experience in production, home-office, corporate, product, or portfolio underwriting
  • Exposure to underwriting audit, quality assurance, governance, or authority management is highly attractive but not required
  • Ability to evaluate underwriting decisions and communicate credibly with senior leaders
  • Interest in transitioning from an individual underwriting assignment into a broader corporate role
  • Commercial P&C experience is required; Accident & Health backgrounds will not align

Salary/Benefits Information:

  • Compensation: Competitive base salary between $175k - $200k, with potential flexibility for an exceptionally qualified candidate, plus annual bonus and comprehensive benefits
  • Flexible schedule with remote work capability
  • Extremely competitive Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life insurance plans
  • Employer-matching 401(k)
  • Generous PTO plan
  • Performance-based annual incentive opportunity
