Job description

Principal Software Engineer


Help expand access to high-quality behavioral health care for students and families. Our engineering team builds technology that drives clinical excellence and operational efficiency.

We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build scalable systems that support real-world mental health care delivery. This is an individual contributor role with strong cross-functional collaboration.


What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure systems across front-end, back-end, and data layers
  • Develop infrastructure-as-code (CDK) to improve reliability and security
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to deliver features and technical solutions
  • Monitor, debug, and optimize system performance


Systems & Integrations

  • Build data pipelines and integrations (EHRs, student systems, internal tools)
  • Improve workflow automation and operational efficiency
  • Ensure HIPAA-compliant architecture and data protections


Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work closely with Product and Engineering leadership
  • Translate requirements into scalable solutions
  • Mentor junior engineers

Qualifications (Required)

  • 7+ years building data-intensive platforms
  • Strong system architecture, cloud, and API experience
  • Proficiency in JavaScript (TypeScript), SQL, React, Next.js
  • Experience with AWS (ECS, Lambda, CloudFormation, Cognito), MongoDB/DocumentDB
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks (e.g., Jest)
  • Strong communication skills


Preferred

  • Healthcare/HIPAA experience
  • EdTech or school systems experience
  • React Native or mobile development
  • Startup or high-growth experience
