Junior Linux Kernel Engineer

Join Canonical as a Junior Linux Kernel Engineer and contribute to the development of the world's most widely used Linux kernel for Ubuntu. In this remote position, you will engage in critical projects spanning various platforms, from embedded devices to large-scale cloud environments, while collaborating with a global team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with a globally distributed team to enhance the Linux kernel.
  • Work on optimizing solutions for key Silicon and Cloud partner platforms.
  • Diagnose and resolve kernel issues reported by customers and the community.
  • Submit, review, and apply kernel patches.
  • Improve tooling and automation for kernel delivery and testing.

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • Programming experience in C and/or Rust.
  • Understanding of operating system kernel fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with version control, ideally with git.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Ability to travel for company events twice a year.
